We were shooting wedding flowers for our annual Modern Wedding Flowers magazine on a rainy grey day at Taronga Zoo, when Katherine of Pattersons Florist walked in with the most beautiful creation… we’d never seen anything quite like it before, but immediately we loved the floral umbrella. Photographer Jim Smith set about working out how we would shoot this stunning feature on such a dreary day, but it seemed that we couldn’t quite capture the essence and true beauty of the umbrella inside four walls. As if in answer to our prayer the heavens decided to open up for a short time and they sent down the most gorgeous beams of light. The golden bride with a canopy of fresh flowers above her (top left) remains one of my favourite images ever taken on a shoot.
