Hen’s night ideas & alternatives

Modern Wedding Posted: February 11, 2013

For a hen’s night you can’t go past the clichéd but fabulous fake veil, feather boa and flashing brooch. While an extravagant dinner followed by hours of dancing is the norm for a hen and her flock, there are plenty of creative ways for all the girls (and the Grandmas!) to celebrate.

Art for Hens

Sleazy strippers used to be the key ingredient for a truly memorable hen’s night but sexy just got a whole lot more sophisticated. There are some great Art Studios offering hen’s life drawing classes, where the bride and her girl friends can take to the easels and illustrate the dreamy male model standing in front of them showing off his human form.

The sessions are often run by a qualified female art teacher, and if you are lucky some food and wine will be included in the cost.

Dance the Hen’s Night Away

If you’re the kind of hen who likes to party hard and dance the night away, you might like to perfect your moves in one of the hundreds of pole dancing or burlesque dance classes available.

A plethora of dance schools in every Australian city welcome hen’s party’s into their studios where sexy walks and titillating dance routines are taught by professional dancers.

Champagne and cocktails are served between lessons, ensuring a perfect start to a fun and active night.

Cocktail making class

Grab your besties and have a masterclass in cocktail making, testing (of course) as you go. Have some good looking bartenders show you the tricks of the trade while you enjoy nibbles, your cocktail creations and a hundred laughs. A fabulous way to start your night out.

Homemade Beauty

Turn your place (or your friend’s) into a day spa and treat the girls to some pampering and styling before hitting the town for dinner and drinks. “¨There are some fabulous beauty therapists who cater for hen’s parties at your chosen location, offering massage, facials, manicures and pedicures. Put the wine on ice and enjoy a bit of luxury with your friends as a pre-outing treat.

Sipping sensations

Take a guided tour of the wineries, sip stunning wines, taste the local produce and have a luxurious lunch by the vineyards. This day can be as civilized or messy as you choose. Why not make a weekend of it and rent a holiday house for the giggling girls – that way you can extend the party all night long.
