Ever since their New Zealand engagement, Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins and long time beau Jake Wall have been tight lipped about their wedding plans – no date was ever given and in the last 18 months we’ve often wondered when, where and how they would eventually wed. We certainly weren’t expecting a Tuesday wedding in Bali, but upon hearing the news late yesterday it was one of those things that made a lot of sense. You’ll have to wait for Women’s Day magazine for all the official details (the couple reportedly signed a contract worth between $300,000 and $500,000 granting the magazine exclusivity), but we thought we’d make some predictions based on the sketchy details so far…
The decision to marry in Bali and avoid a persistent paparazzi paid off with only one image escaping Women’s Day’s SAS-trained bodyguards. It was taken from the air by channel 7 and confirmed the location of the wedding at the Semara Luxury Villa Resort in Uluwatu. The resort, where villas can cost up to $2300 a night, was booked exclusively by the couple (we visited and recommended the resort in a previous blog post – Moments in Bali!) The three day celebration culminated with Jen & Jake’s sunset ceremony at 4pm on Tuesday afternoon. The intimate event in front of 50 guests, was reportedly followed by a reception in an elaborate white marquee.
The marquee may have looked something like this one at The Samaya Villas in Seminyak, with open walls taking advantage of the breathtaking cliff top views over the Indian Ocean.
The wedding set up below was shot by wedding photographer Jonas Peterson also at the Semara Luxury Villa Resort in Uluwatu. This couple chose to wed on the resort’s private beach, and had Jennifer and Jake opted for a beach celebration, we think it would have looked every bit as beautiful as this.
Perhaps it looked more like Angie & Ben’s Bali wedding, shot by Studio Impressions… (Check out their entire wedding in Modern Wedding Bali magazine!)
Or maybe it was similar to this wedding at Nikko Bali Resort & Spa…
Rumour has it Jennifer’s meringue-style strapless gown came from one of Myer’s exclusive designers. She is said to have worn the dress with her hair down and a cathedral veil. Recently Jen revealed [about finding her dress] “It was probably the hardest thing… I changed my mind about a million times but once I locked it in I felt amazing,” and just like any bride she went through the process of meticulously planning all the details, “the only thing that was really important after that was the entertainment, the music, and the guest list and where people sat.” Based on the sneaky peak above we’re predicting a gown and veil that looks something like the below Pronovias wedding gowns…
When it comes to the hair we’re picturing Jen with those tousled waves we have come to know her for …
BUT we can only guess and it just may be that these high school sweethearts will surprise us all. We wish the happy couple all the best for the future and congratulate them on tying the knot!
