Top 10 Most Romantic Things to Do in Singapore

Modern Wedding Posted: September 4, 2015

A sensational destination wedding and honeymoon location!

Singapore is perhaps surprisingly one of THE most romantic cities in the world… just perfect for your destination wedding, honeymoon or romantic getaway. The city is well-known for its amazing shopping, food and cleanliness but what most people don’t know is how many enchanting, indulgent and adventurous activities there are for loved-up-couples.

I recently was highly privileged to experience this spectacular city and was overwhelmed by the many magical experiences we were treated to. So here are my top 10 most romantic things to do:

1.  Singapore’s Number One Nightspot – The Night Safari
Cuddle up in your tram carriage and begin your wildlife adventure amongst the most fascinating nocturnal animals, as you travel through 7 geographical zones of the world. See the animals close up in their specially lit enclosures and imagine you are in deepest darkest Africa or Burma! After your tram ride you can wander off down dark and leafy pathways to explore the more than 1000 animals even closer.

2.     Breakfast With The Orang-utans

Give way to your primal instincts – The Singapore Zoo is the only place in the world where you can have breakfast with an entire family of very friendly orang utans! These majestic creatures wander in from the ‘treeway’ from their free-range habitat next door and seem very happy to sit amongst the humans for their breakfast.

3. Foodie Heaven – Serangoon Gardens

One of the most romantic things to do in Singapore is to share gastronomic delights!  Get away from the skyscrapers into one of the oldest housing estates in Singapore, Serangoon Road, which was once used to house British officers. This area is now super-trendy and boasts one of Singapore’s most bustling food haunts with quirky bars and hole-in-the-wall, awesome coffee shops.

4.     Gardens by the Bay

These are no ordinary gardens – get close to nature and your loved one at this futuristic, huge and colourful park. Wander indoors and outdoors along the trails. The famous Supertrees form an impressive skywalk over the gardens and there are hundreds of exotic plants to discover together.

5. Amphibious Fun!

See Singapore from both land and sea on the original amphibious DUCK! You’ll get a whole new perspective and get a fabulous overview of the city in a short time. Outstanding fun!

6.     The Singapore Flyer at Sunset

Watch the sun set over this spectacular city and enjoy the magnificent skyline views, whilst sipping Moet & Chandon and nibbling on strawberries and chocolates. On a clear evening you can see as far as Malaysia to the North and Indonesian islands to the South.

Or if you really want to indulge, the ‘Sky Dining experience’ is a 4-course dinner with butler service, in your very own spacious capsule, atop the world’s largest Giant Observation Wheel.

7.     “Wonder Full” Laser Light Show

An absolute must-do is Southeast Asia’s largest light and water show – an amazing convergence of light, music and sound which runs for 13 minutes. You can simply sit on the waterfront to watch the show (it’s free) or take a river cruise one evening.

8. Singaporean Hawker Food-Inspired Cocktails

If you love the food that this sunny island has to offer then you’ll definitely want to try hawker food-inspired cocktails! You probably can’t begin to imagine a Laksa Cocktail – the creaminess of laksa (coconut cream with lime and lemongrass) and the seafood flavour of infused vodka with dried shrimp oil. Seasoned with fresh laksa leaves, chili padi, and sugar – unbelievable!

9. Dreamy Island Getaways

Grab your sunnies and slap on the sunscreen for an amorous daytrip adventure! There are entire islands beyond Singapore’s familiar coastlines waiting to be discovered by the two of you.

10. Stay in a great hotel with a Club Lounge!

I stayed at Oasia Hotel Singapore, magnificently located in the charming enclave of Novena with a shopping mall and MTR station next door (only 2 stops to Orchard Road) and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Oasia is truly like an oasis – we stayed in a luxurious Club Suite and had exclusive access to the one of the highest hotel pools in Singapore (on the 22nd floor) alongside the hotel’s Club Lounge, The Living Room, with daily breakfast; an all-day barista and evening  cocktails  and  canapés.

The service in the Oasia is better than any I have experienced anywhere in the world (and I have been VERY spoilt so that’s saying something)!

If you’re looking for a unique destination wedding location it would be a brilliant place to get married and have all your friends and family stay in the hotel to celebrate with you. And if it’s an intimate honeymoon hotel you are looking for the Oasia would also be the most brilliant choice!
