10 Elegant And Affordable Fresh Flower Ideas

Modern Wedding Posted: March 10, 2019

Beautiful and bountiful wedding day blooms don’t have to break the bank. Here are 10 elegant and affordable fresh flower ideas that you can incorporate into your big day.

Table Runners

Instead of using bulk blooms for your table runners, use linen table runners and dot flower throughout it sparingly. The texture of the linen means the table won’t look sparse, nor will you loose the fullness of the flowers and gaps between them won’t be as obvious.

Minimalist

You will be surprised how little it takes to elevate your wedding style. Consider taking a minimalist approach to your wedding theme and keep styling to a few key pieces. One amazing bouquet as a centrepiece per table is a stunning and simple styling choice that won’t burst the bridal budget.

Use Carnations

A cheaper alternative to peonies or roses, carnations still have a fluffy and vibrant texture and luxe feel, but without the hefty price tag of their counterparts.

Choose Carefully

If you simply must have some peonies or pricier blooms on your big day, choosing them wisely. Opt for cheaper variations (vines, leaves etc) to use in bulk and keep those special blooms as centrepieces, bouquets, the bridal table etc.

Green Thumb

Greenery such as vines are a much cheaper alternative to flowers. Using lashings of greenery throughout your wedding will give the illusion of flowers, but without the price tag that comes along with it. Greenery also looks fabulous when used as suspended arrangements, especially for a romantic, whimsical wedding.

Cute Clusters

Be open to the idea of clusters of different blooms. When put together a variety of different colours, textures and sizes can create a masterpiece! Loose, organic, unstructured arrangements create a relaxed ambience. MW fave: Eucalyptus, jasmine vine, peppercorn leaves and ivy…

Buy in bulk

Go big or go home! If you want a total floral fantasy, buying in bulk may help to lower costs on your blooms.

Think about it

Before ordering your blooms, consider each and everyone carefully. What purpose do they serve? Will they make an impact? If you find the answer to this is no, think about an alternative to using flowers in this space such as candles, votives etc.

Make A Statement

Use all of your petal power for one amazing statement and keep the rest of the day less flower-filled.  Floral arches, flower walls and dramatic arbour arrangements are on the rise. Beautiful and striking ceremony floral arrangements like these create an amazing ambience from the start and, in addition, your ceremony photos will be phenomenal with a gorgeous floral backdrop.

Get Up Early

An early morning trip to the flower markets can save you hundreds of dollars. Just be prepared to think on your feet if your desired flowers aren’t available on the day – and that you might need a nap before the ceremony after your early morning wake up!
