P H I L I P P A & D A V I D
F R O M T H E B R I D E …
The Meeting…
We met at university through our inter-connected friendship groups.
The Proposal…
We got engaged on the Champs-Élysée, Paris in Deccember 2013. There were tens of thousands of people out on the streets for the Christmas Markets. After walking up and down the length of the Champs-Élysées through all the people we stopped at the bottom of the street to buy some gleuhwein. David pretended he had lost his wallet and suggested he might have been pickpocketed. Looking panicked, he proceeded to empty his pockets handing me his camera, map, phone, the hotel keys and finally a ring box. It took me a few seconds to realise what was going on – I eventually noticed the ring box sitting in my hand and opened it up to find the ring. I said yes and the rest is history.
Wedding Style…
Simple, elegant and classy. The simple stuff done well. We wanted an intimate, but light hearted ceremony. We didn’t want to compromise on the food, wine or music; the rest would fall into place around these three. Lots of white, good lighting, simple yet elegant flowers, long tables, short and sharp speeches – lots of dancing!
Ceremony Location…
In the Garden of David’s parent’s house – on their grass tennis court.
Reception Venue…
In the garden of Lamont’s Bishops House.
The Dress…
My wedding dress was from Pallas Couture. I really love lace, but wanted something with modern lines and a slim fit. Pallas created a custom gown that was exactly what I wanted.
Bridesmaids Dresses…
Simple silk dresses by Bojena King.
Groomsmen…
Black tuxedo and black bow tie.
The Flowers…
I wanted something loose with lots of greenery and a touch of pink. I really left it with Sally at Touched by Angels and was so happy with what she created.
Decorations…
Lots of over head lighting, 3 long tables, greenery with pink and white flowers. Touched By angels did the flowers and decorations.
On the Menu…
Moet and Pimms post nuptials at the ceremony venue – then standing canapés and entrée at Lamont’s, followed by sit down mains – choice of snapper, or wagyu fillet steak, standing canapé desserts – no cake.
Picardy Chardonnay & Pinot noir, Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc, Torbreck Woodcutters Shiraz and Rimauresq Provence Rose, Howard Park Jete Sparkling
Wedding Photography…
We love everything about our wedding photos – Natasja Kremers has an incredible ability to capture the moment.
Wedding Songs…
Everything from Roy Orbison/Fleetwood Mac to Alt J/ The Avener
Honeymoon…
Pangkor Laut Resort, Malaysia
Special Moments…
We had a website for the RSVP made by my sister . The poem below with all the information was given to invitees.
It was nine years ago, almost to the day
A boy met a girl, on the grounds of UWA
Flash forward to the present, on the 20th of December
Marks something very special, a day to remember!
The famous city of love, was where he dropped a knee
On the streets of Paris, to which she replied “Oui oui!”
So now they are to marry, as Husband and as Wife
A legal bond of love, hand in hand in life.
We really cannot wait, to see you all together
At Wood Street and Lamont’s, with hopefully good weather
Please do let us know, by the RSVP date
By clicking the link for yes, hurry don’t be late!
The vows will be exchanged, in the Garden of Wood Street
Followed by Pimms and French, and a chance to meet and greet
Then there’ll be a bus, to whisk you all away
To Lamont’s for stage two, a classy evening soiree.
Our Dress code is easy, we want you to look nice.
Elegant and classy, with a little bit of spice
A jacket for the gents, with hopefully a tie
A dinner suit for groomsman, so the limit is the sky.
For the ladies it’s a chance, to dress up to the nines
But a little summer frock, will not incur any fines.
A few photos to begin, with everyone dressed smart
Then off with all the jackets, as the party kickstarts.
Entrees and dessert, will be served whilst standing
Mains will be seated, (sorry to sound demanding)
The mains will have a choice, of two or three dishes
Please let us know, of any vegetarian wishes.
A band will be playing, some funky jazzy songs,
Whilst we all say hello, in the garden at Lamont’s
A DJ after dinner, with a list of wedding jingles
He’ll also take requests, for all your favourite singles.
We have hired the paparazzi, to take pics of our party
And encourage you to also, if you’re feeling fun and arty
We hope that if you love, the photo that you took
To please consider carefully, before uploading on Facebook.
