Today at Modern Wedding HQ we’re busy discussing what we will bring to our PINK morning tea tomorrow. We’ve invited all our office neighbours to join us for some tea and pink inspired treats to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. On the menu so far…strawberry macarons, pink iced biscuits, pikelets with strawberry jam and pink smoked salmon! Our eyes are also keeping a close eye on bids for the thinkPINK auction also in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Make sure you check out the dresses and bid to win a pink designer gown.
While we enjoy nothing more than designer gowns and delicious pink treats, it is stories like this one that remind us why we’re doing it all. This is the story of Gabrielle who was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2010. Her wedding wishes came true earlier this year with the help of her bridesmaid Jocelyn, who organised this stunning celebration in just four weeks. Gabrielle and Tony’s entire wedding story featured in our annual Modern Wedding Pink Edition.
“Gabrielle’s brief was clear and concise,” says Jocelyn. “She wanted to be married near the beach at an inspiring venue surrounded by family and close friends,” she says. A private beach house was transformed into an abode worthy of the Hamptons for Gabrielle and Tony’s beautiful wedding celebration. Gabrielle intended to spoil her guests with amazing food and wine and she wanted the opportunity to mingle with everyone, hence a cocktail reception was planned. The modern beach house inspired the theme – contemporary neutrals with hints of blue created a chic and inviting atmosphere.
Gabrielle looked stunning in a chic Rachel Gilbert gown and carried a traditional bouquet of David Austin roses. Her two gorgeous boys, Declan and Ronan, walked her into the garden and down the aisle, created by rows of Hampton chairs. The ceremony was emotional and heartfelt, an honour for every guest to witness.
Afterward, decadent cocktail food was served and guests revelled in the fine dining experience. White lanterns and candles created a romantic ambiance as night fell. Gabrielle was absolutely delighted with the decoration, food, wine and atmosphere and admitted that she wouldn’t have changed a thing.
