The Proposal…
Tom proposed to me while we were staying at Bannisters in Mollymook for our 4 year anniversary. It completely took me by surprise and the whole experience was so surreal, the room was amazing, we could hear the musician by the pool below playing a song that we absolutely loved and it was like we were the only two people in the whole world.
Planning…
The Southern Highlands is such a beautiful area, so relaxing. For the type of wedding we wanted, we knew it had to be outside Sydney. Summerlees Estate was the first venue we looked at and nothing else compared after. It was absolutely perfect for us.
Theme…
I love all things green, I’m a horticulturalist so my main thing for the day was to be surrounded by gorgeous flowers and foliage. The feeling that we wanted for the day was for it to be fun and light-hearted, but also take in the surroundings of the country and the rustic/vintage theme.
Colours…
Lilac, Peach and cream.
Decorations…
Michelle from Affair with George was a dream come true. When we first met to go through my ideas she understood what I wanted straight away and she understood my vision, which made everything really easy. When I first walked into the ballroom before the guests arrived I was amazed, it was like Michelle knew what I wanted better than I did myself – everything was perfect.
Our tables were dressed with a mix of vintage tea cups, small silver and crystal vases and old glass bottles filled with peach stock, Julia’s rose, peach ‘Juliet’ rose, purple lisianthus, chincheree and green hypericum berry…to name a few. We had glass baubles hanging from rods along the ceiling filled with flowers & tea light candles which looked perfect with the gorgeous old chandeliers.
Details…
I think the most unique detail was the Persian rug that we had for the ceremony. I borrowed lots of ideas, but the rug was my own. We gave each guest a small jar of jam from a local berry farm in Sutton Forest. We had a two-layer cake, the bottom layer was a chocolate sponge and the top layer vanilla and raspberry swirl. It was covered with a light whipped cream as I definitely didn’t want traditional hard icing.
Honeymoon…
We spent two weeks in the Whitsundays. First week at Qualia which was absolute paradise and the second at Hayman Island.
