Few pleasures can equal the satisfaction of commissioning and possessing something unique. In a world of mass production and consumption there lies a rare opportunity to create something that truly stands alone in its beauty: your wedding ring.
From the moment they opened their first retail doors in 1989, Gregory Jewellers embarked on a mission to push the boundaries of jewellery artistry and craftsmanship, to honour their rich heritage and to celebrate their future. And since, they have become one of Australia’s leading lights in jewellery creation and design. One of the few remaining fine jewellers to have an in-house design and manufacturing team, working from their state of the art workrooms on Castlereagh Street Sydney,
‘Our ancestors have been making jewellery for over 1000 years. The art of jewellery making is in our blood, it’s our passion, our heritage, and our duty to continue our family’s traditions for future generations,’ says Gregory co-chief executives, Edward & Helen.
When it comes to a Gregory piece of jewellery, perfection is the culmination of inspired design, carefully selected materials and impeccable craftsmanship. From the initial inspiration to the completion and delivery of the final product, the nuances of technique and precision are diverse.
‘Our in-house design and craftsmanship allows us to have complete control over the design, quality and lead-time from conceptual sketch to the point of hand over to our client. It gives our creative team, the flexibility to not only design and create exactly what our client is after, but also meet often tight deadlines, control quality, support local manufacturing and preserve our heritage and values for the next generations,’ says Edward Gregory. From the initial idea to the finished jewel, the entire manufacturing process takes place in their Sydney-based production facilities, making a Gregory creation both Australian designed and made. Expert craftsmen and designers, whose level of experience is unsurpassed, are responsible for all steps of the process.
‘The process differs, dependant on the client’s needs. As a brand, we choose to invest large amounts into our inventory of loose diamonds and gemstones, allowing each client the opportunity to view and create their own piece, working closing with production and design. The design team, under the careful guidance of founding directors Christopher and Lahdo Gregory, interoperate each client’s requests, and make them a reality,’ says Helen Gregory. ‘Our passion and signature would have to be in the superb quality of craftsmanship and impeccable finish. Jewellery is such a personal thing, and means something different to everyone. What is common with all pieces bearing our hallmark, is the quality of materials, quality of craftsmanship, and a finish that truly cannot be compared,’ says production & operations manager, Robert Gregory.
‘We will be here for the life of the jewellery – one part of the Gregory Standard. Our commitment to longevity in our brand and business is something standalone jewellers cannot always offer. Our strong foundations mean we will always be here, and always look after your jewellery,” says Edward Gregory.
Superb gems are the focal point of many of Gregory Jewellers creations, and only the very best will do. Rigorously selected materials are carefully constructed according to The Gregory Standard, a five-point criteria process guaranteeing every piece bearing the Gregory maker’s mark is finished to the finest degree of quality, whilst their meticulous hand selection process ensures all diamonds and gemstones are superior to industry standards. They also boast Australia’s largest live inventory of loose diamonds, meaning they have the ability to create the perfect piece for every client. Their visionary Tycoon Cut, an internationally trademarked cut of diamond, is also manufactured precisely to their specifications, and is sold exclusively by Gregory Jewellers in Australia and New Zealand.
‘As an Australian owned and family operated company in its third generation, we are proud of the heritage and values that our brand has come to represent. Over the last four decades we’ve introduced major innovations in style and design,’ says Helen Gregory. A tradition that the next generation, led by Co-Chief Executives Helen and Edward Gregory, are set to take to new heights.
