Your wedding style is a logical progression from your personal style and if you’re all about the wow-factor then get ready to take notes… We bring you the top tips on how to create a wedding full of wonder!
Step one? Find a wedding stylist. They are experts in turning wedding inspiration into a day to remember. “The first thing we do take inspiration from the couple,” says Jennifer Kennedy from Bells N Whistles. “Whilst trends do affect our industry, it’s the couple that forms the focus of the event. What they love, what they don’t… We discuss everything!”
From there, your Stylist will build a plan to incorporate elements of your personality and personal style into the wedding. Fiona Deans-Dundas of Couture Wedding Planning creates a custom motif for each of her couples. “This represents the couple as a whole, and is then featured throughout the wedding.”

For a timeless sense of luxury, choose a neutral palette and one accent colour. “Clean lines and a simple, neutral colour palette is always supremely beautiful,” says Kathy Apostolidis of Nightingales Wedding Designers. “So often we find couples with masses of amazing ideas,” says Diane Khoury of Diane Khoury Weddings and Events. “Doing everything and spending a fortune does not always a beautiful wedding make. Focus on the key aspects that are important to you and direct your attention to making them stand out.”

There are some stylistic elements that always create a sense of luxurious style. Whether it’s an abundance of fresh blooms, dramatic suspended chandeliers or the romantic glow of candlelight, it doesn’t necessarily need to be complex to bowl your guests over.
Although it must be acknowledged that there are benefits in creating a talking point. “Whether it’s sparkling chandeliers, a luxury food station or spectacular flower arrangements, when you make an effort to find something that really wows your guests, it’s always worth it,” says Nathalie Green of Pillingers Hiring Service.
“However be warned – there is an OTT point,” advises Jennifer Kennedy of Bells N Whistles. “You need a great stylist to ensure you don’t go over the top.” ”It’s important not to throw everything at it,” agrees Kathy Apostolidis. “You need to ensure that every element works well with the other, and together creates a cohesive visual story that makes sense.”

One thing every stylist can agree on is the importance of quality. Be it thick card for your invitations, the very best flowers or high quality linens for your tables, it’s the little things that have the biggest impact.
“Make your guests a priority!” says Nadia Postnikov of Events by Nadia. “Be a crowd pleaser. It’s those little details like personalised place cards and menus that people remember.”
And Michelle Romeo of Romeo’s Chair agrees. “Attention to detail is paramount,” she says. “Choose elements that will stand the test of time. Consider the event from the point of view of your guests. Little things like luxurious linens, napkin dressing, charger plates and even a bathroom attendant can create a sense of luxury and make your guests feel special.”

When it comes to trends in wedding style, there are a few that are definitely on the rise. Expect to see flowers take centre stage, with more dramatic uses like suspended arrangements and floral feature walls, chandeliers are experiencing a renaissance, and metals like gold, silver and rose gold will find their way into wedding details like invitations, vases and linens.
No matter what your theme, if you choose a wedding stylist to help you bring it to life, you can be assured it will be simply unforgettable.
