Sydney couples are spoiled for choice when it comes to options for a waterside wedding and this year a new venue is set to make major waves. Set on the serene Federation Point, the historic Manly Pavilion has been a feature of Manly Cove since 1933 and in 2016, the Miramare Group will be reviving the much-loved venue as a restaurant and for the first time, as a wedding venue.
We chat to the Miramare Group about this exciting new venue and discover why it will be the best big thing in waterside weddings!
MW: Where is Manly Pavilion?
MG: Manly Pavilion is positioned in Manly Cove just minutes walk from the iconic Manly wharf and Manly Beach. Boasting panoramic harbour views, the stunning heritage listed building is one of Sydney Harbour’s truly unique treasures.
MW: What sets Manly Pavilion apart?
MG: Manly Pavilion was originally built in 1933 by the Port Jackson and Manly Steamship Company as a dressing room for the comfort of bathers. The design includes a restoration of its original heritage charm, a fusion of old world glamour and contemporary architectural design, made with polished concrete, terrazzo, copper and stone mirror which reflect the elegance and grace of the original building. This unique historic character, coupled with the world class management of the Miramare Group and the magnificent harbour views make this venue truly one of a kind.
MW: What will the venue be like when it opens?
MG: Manly Pavilion is scheduled to open in 2 phases. The dining room restaurant located on the upper level will open as The Bistro at Manly Pavilion, which will commence operation in May 2016. Its large dining terrace is a dramatically open and light space, with sliding doors and neutral colour scheme it dissolves into the surrounding vista and becomes an extension of the harbour beyond. The bar itself is a sophisticated black tiled feature that glistens in the evening light, and the elevated bar platform provides the perfect location to enjoy unimpeded views of the harbour beyond with a cocktail from the bespoke cocktail offering.
The second phase will see the restoration and renovation of the lower level, which will operate as a function and events centre, boasting un-interrupted harbour views, which will commence operation in Late 2016.

MW: What services can couples expect to be included in the wedding packages?
MG: We will offer a full wedding planning service to create beautiful bespoke weddings. There will be some great highlights in our packages, featuring Aperol Spritz’s offered in our pre-dinner drinks, and a signature Manly Pavilion Olive – Olive oil and bread board on guests tables.
MW: What sort of cuisine will be available at the venue?
MG: The cuisine will be Modern Mediterranean with an Italian Influence.
MW: When can couples have their wedding at Manly Pavilion?
MG: The function space at Manly Pavilion is due to open in October/November 2016, however for smaller more intimate or casual gatherings we are able to book the private area of the restaurant from June onwards.
