In early March we were lucky to have renowned floral designer Karen Tran in our midst, thanks to Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel and Facebooker/Instagrammer Wedded Wonderland. If you’re not familiar with the work of Karen Tran then we suggest you plug her name into the search box on Pinterest…pretty crazy talented woman right?! Based in California, Karen Tran Florals and Events is ‘all about the creation of exquisite floral arrangements to enhance every kind of occasion.’ Her name is synonymous with extraordinary floral creations with an unrivalled style of elegant extravagance.
Over the course of her visit down under, Karen made her home at Sydney’s premier boutique venue Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel. Here she held floral masterclasses for students and stylists across Sydney culminating in a dinner celebration to present her work. Modern Wedding Editor in Chief, Victoria Black, joined the intimate sit down dinner along with 70 guests from the Australian wedding industry. With assistance from Australian floral designer, Vesna Grasso, Karen Tran created the floral arrangements pictured here using over 8,000 of the world’s best flowers sourced locally and from Vietnam, Columbia and Singapore. By no means a small feat, each arrangement took over 8 hours to create!
The Sunset Room at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel was the perfect backdrop for the event with its classic decor and lively atmosphere. A grand pianist and Prinnie Stevens performed throughout the evening, while models dressed in Australia’s leading designers mingled in the crowd. Decorative Events & Exhibitions and Jason James Design also leant their creative skills to help execute the evening while Crystal Head Vodka supplied lustre cocktails and Lisa McGuigan matched wine to the carefully tailored menu. We hope you enjoy this snapshot of inspiration for your own wedding event!
