I love to start the week off with a love story, and the way this bride was proposed to was something out of a great romantic movie.
After waiting two hours in line at the base of the Eiffel Tower, Viktoria and a very nervous Tristen made their way up to the top to gaze over the City of Love. Tristen found a quiet corner and asked Viktoria to be his wife. In a haze of excitement the couple enjoyed the rest of their holiday as a loved-up engaged couple.
On returning to Australia they began planning their stunning wedding celebration – each and every detail imbued with the theme of Vintage Love Birds, Peacocks and Feathers.
Ceremony
Viktoria and Tristen chose to marry in a traditional Catholic ceremony. Viktoria arrived at the church emanating beauty in her stunning and, rather flamboyant, gown.
“As a designer, I spent months working on a design for my dress and handmade the structured one shoulder creation, which was finished off with my Grandmother’s sapphire and crystal vintage brooch. I spent weeks leading into the wedding hand sewing ostrich feathers onto the dress to give the illusion of a peacock tail, which was complemented with my handmade stunning vintage inspired crystal headpiece.”
Reception
In the lead up to the wedding, Viktoria planned and designed much of the day herself. Her wedding was the perfect excuse to fill the day with exquisite attention to detail and a fine balance of vintage and modern elements.
The magnificent room at the National Portrait Gallery was made even more extravagant by Viktoria’s styling flair. Each table setting featured white ostrich feathers and bird cages. Hand made menu cards were attached to a miniature birdcage bomboniere and the cake topper – a male and female peacock, was a definite crowd pleaser.
Viktoria’s Highlights
“Despite the four seasons in one day, the weather provided a marvelous backdrop for the photographer and videographer, with a stunning rainbow featuring as a highlight. There was no holding back for us ‘love birds’ as we laughed, danced, and ran around in the rain using vintage picture frames and bird cages as props to reflect our personalities. It was the greatest day of our lives.”
