To brighten up our Mondays I want to share with you a wedding that screams fun and colour!
Nicole and David’s wedding was themed around Nicole’s favourite colour orange – her bridesmaids didn’t even have to ask what colour they would be wearing… it was a given. Nicole chose her ‘happy flowers’, Gerbras as the focal bloom for the decorations. She coupled orange with black and white for the ceremony and simply black for the reception.
They held the wedding at Taronga Park Zoo in Sydney because it was a big part of the day in which David popped the question… it was even in the question. The proposal didn’t go overly smoothly – David had to work hard to get Nicole to realise she was being proposed to…
“Dave asked me if I would like to get married at the zoo, I didn’t realise that he was proposing until he emphasised that he was asking if I would marry him at the zoo! I made it even harder for him by asking, “are you being serious?”I then asked him to show me the ring. I almost died of surprise when he pulled out a ring box from Gregory Jewellers with a stunning ring he had chosen himself! He had also booked a suite at the Westin Hotel for that night, and had packed a bag with everything I needed for work the following day.”
So everything worked out in the end and the couple planned a striking wedding!
Nicole wore an ivory, A-line satin gown with a jeweled bodice. She found her beautiful ‘Brides Desire’ by Airs & Graces gown at Brides of Beecroft. “I really loved the sparkles!” said Nicole.
To find the perfect tone of orange for the bridesmaid dresses, Nicole bought the material herself and enlisted the help of Michelle Parker of Singularly Stitched. “Because of how bright the dresses were I wanted something simple, which flowed and suited both girls.”
Nicole and Dave found the groomsmen suits a little difficult to find, as the men were all different heights. They stumbled across M&S Suit City in Fairfield, which held the answer for them. Dave wore a black pinstriped suit with a Jeff Banks ivory shirt and tie from Myers and vest from Man to Man, all of which matched the colour of Nicole’s dress.
I love how Nicole and David’s concept came together mixing the animal theme with the orange and black – I think you will agree it looked fabulous!
Nicole has this advice for brides:
“Use the Modern Wedding Checklist – it’s a must!!! Try shopping for accessories online like Net-a-porter, Tulip Bridal, Etsy (it can really assist with your budget). Also make sure that you do absolutely no wedding planning the day before as it sets you up to sit back and enjoy the wedding day without worrying about the small things.” (Thanks for the plug Nicole:))
