You may remember a post I did last week about the Glamorous African wedding, well today, our good friends at Wedding Concepts are sharing another inspiring wedding closer to our Aussie hearts. Australian couple, Marguerite and Tom crossed the pond to say their vows under the South African sun with an easygoing countryside lunch, followed by a twilight ceremony then dancing late into the night. Sounds idyllic to me!

The Story: At Wedding Concepts we love turning convention on its head. There’s nothing that thrills us as much as creating celebrations with tacit elements of unpredictability. Maggie and Tom, two of the most laid back people we’ve ever met, showed courage by heeding our advice to opt for a casual countryside lunch, followed by a sunset ceremony and, thereafter, dancing and lounging late into night. We threw the traditional order of events to the wind and instead decided to mould the timing around the unique Franschhoek setting, the season, and a sense of surprise. “¨”¨It was a day of contrasts that echoed the couple’s backgrounds and personalities. Key words were ‘simplicity’, ‘subtlety’ and ‘serious fun’. These came to live in a calm, neutral colour palette with daring splashes of bright reds, yellows and pinks. For the bride it meant two different yet equally striking outfits. For the groom – a foodie of note – spectacular food twice during the day. Their guests savoured a multi-faceted fête that spanned from midday to midnight – and indulged the myriad of surprises ranging from tailor made Fedora hats for the gents to speeches right after the ceremony. For us, there’s nothing better than seeing everyone enthralled by the fact that adventurous wedding planning these days is creating a new set of rules. Highlights for us were the picnic style ceremony set-up as well as the couple’s riveting opening dance.
