Keeping with Chinese tradition, Capella & Simon had a Chinese Tea ceremony and an intimate, traditional garden ceremony shared with family and friends
An overseas engagement…
Capella & Simon met through a mutual friend and knew that it was love when they wanted to spend more and more time together, “when you want to spend more time with that person even though you’ve just spent the whole day together” Capella says.
Simon popped the question to his bride to be in their home town of Hong Kong, “Perth is now our home, but we will never forget where we are originally from that shaped a part of us. Simon knows how important family is for me and I have a very strong connection with my cousins. He made a very brave decision to make his proposal in front of my relatives”.
Chinese Tea and a Traditional Garden Ceremony…
The couple had two ceremonies; one was a Chinese Tea ceremony and the other a traditional garden ceremony. The Chinese Tea was held at Capella’s parents house, “we served tea to our elderly to show our appreciation for their education, supervision, support and providing guidance in our life”, she says.
And chose Heathcote Reserve Park at Applecross for their garden ceremony and Blue Water Grill for their reception with its outdoor venue and beautiful, natural scenery.
Rustic greenery…
The couple sought to have an intimate wedding, with a rustic, green theme where they could share their happiness with family and friends.
“We love nature and enjoy soaking up the sun. Nothing can beat the joy and peace created from listening to the birds singing while lying down on the grass looking over the trees and leaves above you with your loved one” says Capella.
Silk and soft greys…
Capella chose three close friends as her bridesmaids who each wore light grey, single shoulder dresses on the special day, whilst Simon’s three groomsmen wore classic black suits with grey ties to match the bridesmaids gowns.
A backless beauty…
“A vintage off shoulder backless lace wedding gown has always been my dream gown. I was very lucky to find it from Collezione Bridal Couture located in the CBD as designed by Augusta Jones” says Capella.
Vintage style…
The couple really enjoyed the whole process of planning and styling their day and decorated their reception with a vintage style and hand made a lot of the decorations themselves including the welcome signs, wooden photo frames, place cards and the wishing well box.
Greenery was another key theme on the day, with foliage naturally laid across the guest tables and simple greenery hanging with festoon lights across the bridal table.
A good night kiss…
In 40 years the couple hope to “have a good night kiss before bed, still laugh at each others silly jokes, celebrate special occasions together and face any challenges with positivity. Doing all the little things that make us stay in love with each other”, Capella says.
