Thao and Ryan’s wedding was all kinds of lovely, lavish and luxurious. From their marble and gold colour scheme to incorporating a signature wedding scent into their celebrations, Thao and Ryan’s day was an extravagant affair fit for a king and queen. Talk about swoon-worthy!
Destined Lovers…
If Thao and Ryan’s love story was made into a movie, we’re pretty certain it would have you laughing, crying and make you feel full with love! The couple were high school sweethearts until fate separated them and Thao moved to a different state. Their love was written in the stars though and years later, destiny brought the lovers back together. “I’ve always known it was true love,” says Thao, “When we were separated for all those years and I still thought about him, I knew”.
Brie Mine…
Ryan proposed to Thao during a weekend getaway to the Hunter Valley whilst they were having a sunset picnic by Lake St Clair. “There was no one around; it was just us, the sunset, the lake, the cheese and Taylor Swift playing through the speakers,” recalls Thao. The proposal came as a total surprise to Thao who was too busy eating cheese and certainly didn’t expect Ryan to get down on one knee! “I said yes through my tears and a mouthful of cheese,” Thao laughs.
Dazzling Darlings…
Thao had 3 bridesmaids for the big day; her two sisters and her oldest friend. She proposed to her gal pals with personalised gift bags that included chocolate, wine and a heartfelt card. The bridal party wore divine Adrianna Papell beaded dresses that matched in champagne colour but were all styled differently. The bridesmaid and bridal bouquets featured white roses, snap dragons, pussy willows and dark green foliage in an elegant loose arrangement.
Dapper Dudes…
Ryan proposed to his groomsmen in a totally different way…he just asked them by text! The groomsmen wore navy suits paired with white button down shirts, brown shoes and salmon pink ties. For his groom attire, Ryan wore a dark navy suit, chestnut RM Williams boots and a classic black bow tie.
From Princess To Party…
Thao became a real life princess in her heavenly wedding gown designed by Angela Osagie. The design was inspired by Thao’s desire to wear a gown that was romantic, whimsical and ethereal while still encapsulating classic and simple elegance. The dress was a two-piece that allowed Thao to have different looks at the ceremony and the reception. The ceremony dress was an abundance of elegant silk tulle with soft flowing lines and draped off-the-shoulder sleeves. For the reception, Thao’s look transformed into a form fitting, sexy, art deco beaded mermaid style dress after she removed the detachable tulle skirt.
Wedding Bells…
The luxe ceremony was held in the gardens at Jaspers Berry. From the outset, Thao and Ryan knew they wanted to have an elegant country manor wedding with marble decor and a gold colour scheme. The breathtaking ceremony was shot by Tealily Photography who captured the natural, raw and romantic aesthetic of the day.
Scent From Heaven…
After the utterly picturesque ceremony finished, the guests headed to the Orangery at Jasper’s Berry to get the party started! The gorgeous venue was overflowing with white roses and tortured willows to create a stunning floral vision. “All our florals, including the planter urns, wall sconces, chair posies and other decorative posies, were in shades of white and green,” shares Thao. Not only was the reception visually stunning, Thao and Ryan created a signature scent for the celebration so that their guests would be transported back to the wedding when they smelled something similar. “I had gardenia and jasmine scented candles burning all throughout the reception,” says Thao.
Party Time…
The newlyweds treated guests to a few extra surprises throughout the evening. “Our alternating bonbonnieres were personalised Lindt chocolate bars or personalised test tube teas with a heart shaped loose-leaf tea strainer,” shares Thao. The couple also organised for a box of Haviana flip flops to reside next to the dance floor so that their guests could break it down on the dance floor.
Tips From Thao…
After the wedding, Thao and Ryan jetted off to Vietnam for a heavenly three week honeymoon. Thao’s advice for future brides is to pick someone organised to assist you on the big day. “My maid of honour was a lifesaver!” says Thao. “Weeks prior to the wedding I had run through all the things I needed her to do for me on the day, and that allowed me to relax and enjoy being a bride.” After all, it’s so important to be present at your wedding so you can soak up every detail of your magical day!
