In today’s digital world, there is an increasing trend with couples wanting a high resolution disc of their wedding photography and bypassing the album. It is almost obsessive and sadly, this should not be the end product to represent your day. Couples are not realising the significance and importance of a custom designed professional wedding album.
By all means, it is a great idea to have your wedding images as a back up on disc or on your hard drive. However CD’s get scratched and sometimes hard drives are ‘unreadable’. As the technological revolution is forever evolving, the long term compatibility of these files on your hard drive or on disc is by no means guaranteed.
Many feel with the digital age the album/ book is unnecessary, however wedding albums are more relevant and important nowadays than ever before.. These precious albums are tangible and something to keep, hold and treasure for now and the future. They are a portal to be transported back in time to reminisce of the beauty of your wedding day.
Your professional wedding photographer should capture the splendour of your day as it unfolds and create your wedding images that become valuable and priceless. Your wedding album will allow these special moments to be displayed together and play the most important role in that it becomes a family heirloom.
There has also been an increase in wedding albums and books created on line or local lab, however one major problem is when the image files do not perfectly match the calibration of a lab’s colour profiles, clients often end up with images that have a different colour/tone or hue to what was created by their wedding photographer. Many end up disappointed with the results.
Your wedding photography can understandably be all about the expense before the wedding, and the expertise of the photographer and album can be overlooked when creating a budget. However, what many couples do not realise is that choosing the right professional photographer is just as important as getting your album designed and made through them.
A wedding album will not depreciate in value over time; it becomes priceless from the second it is created and will be immortalised for generations to come. It is the one tangible thing that will remain and last a life time – well after the wedding day has been and gone.
