Amy and Derek hit it off immediately and after four months of dating they were living together. It was love! Derek proposed in Centennial Park, a beautiful location where they take their nieces and nephews. “We plan to take our own kids there one day,” says Amy.
Soon after the proposal, Amy and Derek started to plan their big day. “We wanted our wedding to be a celebration party for our family and friends. Our priority was our guests – we wanted them to have a fantastic time,” says Amy. They loved the idea of celebrating near the beach as they share a love of the ocean. And to add to the wish list, they particularly liked the idea of marrying outside of Sydney so they could enjoy a mini break with their guests. Bells at Killcare fit the bill; a chic and contemporary venue boasting stunning scenery, luxury accommodation and the very best in Australian fine dining.
The night before the wedding they enjoyed casual pre-drinks with most of their guests. The next day Amy rose early with her bridesmaids (her four best friends) and started getting ready. She wore a stunning gown; classic and elegant. Her headpiece added a subtle bohemian element. She was indeed the perfect garden bride with a classic and very feminine bouquet of hydrangeas and English roses. Her bridesmaids wore blush dresses by Rachel Gilbert and carried bouquets of pale pink blushing roses.
The romantic ceremony was held in the gardens at Bells and afterward, guests were invited into the Conservatory for a joyous celebration complete with a truly amazing menu. Decorated with pastel tones and an abundance of blooms, the scene was both beautiful and inviting. “I wanted our wedding to have influences of art deco and vintage detailing, but with a fresh and modern approach,” says Amy. “Glamour and romance was important to me and I think we definitely achieved a beautiful, luxe reception.”
After a night of unforgettable moments, Amy and Derek enjoyed the weekend with their family before heading to Uluwatu, Bali for a relaxing two weeks. They are now living in their Sydney home, eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first baby.
