Top Weddings Songs for 2013…so far

Modern Wedding Posted: April 16, 2013

Can you believe we’re nearly at the end of April? The year is flying by and like any other year the music industry is pumping out songs that you either love, hate or love then hate. When we hear a new song in the office our judgement is based on one simple question – ‘Can this be played as a wedding song?’ We’ve double checked the lyrics, road tested the beats and measured the love factor to bring you the top 10 wedding songs for 2013 …so far anyway! It’s been a while since our Top Wedding Songs for 2012 so we’ve also tacked on a few songs from late last year and those we’ve only just heard in the Aussie mainstream charts!

1.  Love Is Easy – McFly

This wedding song is perfect for signing the the register or the recessional. It’s fun, playful and full of joy!

2. Sweet Nothing – Calving Harris ft.Florence Welch

Rock in to the reception or rock out on the dance floor to this one.

3. Mountain Sound – Of Monsters And Men

This happy tune fits anywhere really – arriving at the reception, the recessional or your first dance (an upbeat one!)

4. Lanterns – Birds Of Tokyo

A dramatic song to walk down the aisle.

5. The Woman I Love – Jason Mraz

Make this your first dance – too sweet!

6. I Will Wait – Mumford & Sons

Really meaningful  for couples who have had some kind of obstacle which stopped them marrying sooner.

7. Locked Out Of Heaven – Bruno Mars

Get the party started with Bruno Mars – even those with two left feet will find themselves on the dance floor.

8. Ho Hey – The Lumineers

A cute song to play as you sign the register or break it out when you’re announced as ‘Mr. & Mrs’.

9. Suit & Tie – Justin Timberlake featuring JAY-Z

You & your bridal party will love making an entrance to the party with Justin’s smooth beats.

10. The Voice!

Have you been watching channel 9’s The Voice? If you hear a cover you like then jump on to i-tunes & buy it – chances are no one else you know will have had it on their wedding day! Even if you don’t watch the show it’s worth checking out.
