Do your research on venues…
Even though there are so many venues out there, competition to bags the best is stiff. Make sure to get looking as soon as possible, as dates in peak seasons will be quick to book out. It is worth talking to a planner or expert who will be more familiar with the spaces, as well as providing alternate suggestions if your dream location is already booked out.
Also be sure to consider any environmental factors that may dampen your big day, e.g. rain, storms, excessive heat and check that the venue you are planning to book can handle it.
Consider your wedding budget…
You’ve (hopefully) sat down and written yourself a budget, now comes the hard part… sticking to it! Your budget will largely shape the style of venue you’re working with. Make sure to read the fine print on what is included in the packages. Sit down with your partner and determine what you can and can’t afford per head, before looking at any venues & falling in love with a location you can’t afford.

When looking at the guest list, don’t only consider the number of attendees but also any requirements your guests might have. If any grandparents or other elderly people are in attendance pay special attention to general accessibility. Locking in the guest list details will also limit venues based on the cost per head and the safe capacity that the venue can seat.

If you’re planning on inviting a lot of out of town guests or even having a destination wedding, look at venues near a hotel or other accommodation options. This will ensure ease on the day, as well as making sure guests aren’t held in in traffic if they only have a short distance to travel.

Other details to consider include; licensing issues, security, facilities, catering, parking options and decorations. These details must be considered in order to create a seamless and cohesive day for yourself and all attendees.
