Style of Wedding

Modern Wedding Posted: February 11, 2013

Before you start booking a thing or even before you talk money, sit down with your beloved and talk about what is essential for you both to make up your dream wedding.

You need to be clear about your desires and priorities from the beginning. Why not grab a bottle of wine and sit down with your fiancé, have a chat and start making some lists of both of your wants. Don’t be afraid to be outrageous, you can always prioritise your lists to work out what your key elements will be.
Here are a few different wedding styles to start your brainstorming session.

Formal

A formal wedding is usually more expensive than a casual wedding, however with some clever negotiating and prioritising you can achieve this style on a tight budget. The venue, food and what you wear are the biggies when it comes to finance and scene setters, so get negotiating early and find some good prices.

Smaller can be better

An intimate number of wedding guests, not only saves money so you can spend up on other areas, but it also makes your day more personal. You can share your time around and actually talk to each of your guests so everyone feels personally involved in celebrating your nuptials.
A word of warning – you will need to pay attention to all details, a small wedding shows up all blunders and oversights. Even though it’s smaller you need to put in just as much time organising as you would a big wedding.

Casual Weddings are becoming the norm

More and more couples are opting for casual weddings and saving themselves a little cash. Some couples strip their wedding of all bells and whistles and just have a fun party with good friends, others keep just a couple of stylish elements, which beautifully complement a casual scene.
You may go without a lavish gown and fancy reception hall and yet retain stunning, grand table-centers. The simple yet sophisticated look works well and puts a new spin on casual.

Weekend weddings are fun for all

Perfect for the jet-setting couple, a weekend away with all your best friends and family is a great way to get hitched. It can be expensive for all involved so it’s a good idea to send out save the date cards early so guests can start making arrangements and saving for the trip. It’s a fabulous way for all your guests to become acquainted, celebrate your marriage and have a holiday at the same time.
Your organisation skills will have to go into over-drive, as a weekend wedding will add a few things to your to do list. Sending your guests transport information, directions, accommodation options and maps is a must. You will need to orchestrate the accommodation bookings for your guests and it is a good idea to organise something fun for the bridal party and guests for the following day.

So it’s time to start having some serious chats with your hubby-to-be and work out which style you both are happy with, then you can start looking at reception venue options.
