The Meeting…
It is an interesting story actually. We met on Ebay! My father became ill and I needed to sell some of his possessions. Dad was quite the musician and I couldn’t house his prized Piano. I listed it on Ebay… And the winning bid was Matt! Sparks flew when he came to pick it up and we have been together ever since. Last year we welcomed our beautiful daughter Lola.
Love…
I think I knew this one was different as it was easy, comfortable and we seemed to combine our lives quite seamlessly.
The Proposal…
On my Birthday, 26th March 2014. After a lovely family dinner in Melbourne, Matt handed me a parcel, which contained a stack of mini polaroids. Each photo was a sign that baby Lola was holding. The signs told a little story of love and ended with the proposal!
Wedding Style…
The styling inspiration began with my original Vintage 1920’s Art Deco engagement Ring. Matt had it sourced by Keshett Jewellers in Melbourne. From there I knew I wanted an Art Deco inspired direction. My wedding dress then led to the addition of an ‘old Hollywood’ theme and I fell in love with the Newrybar Downs venue to complete the story! The colour palette was black, white and gold, with gorgeous jewel toned unstructured flowers.
The Dress…
It was quite unique… not a typical ‘wedding dress’… I felt it was more a stunning gown than a traditional ‘wedding dress’. It was from Karen Willis Holmes in Armadale. The sequins added that touch of glamour that I was looking for and the corset I had made gave it the comfort and structure it needed. I just loved my dress…!
I also wore a feather bolero for the ‘party’ stage of the night! Very old Hollywood!
The Flowers…
I wanted an Art Deco inspired bouquet with strong jewel tones. There were some amazing peppercorns and colours. It was also very unstructured and free.
Wedding Decorations…
I chose dark wood teak tables and clear ghost chairs. We made black and white stripe table runners and had our table flowers mounted atop ornate mirrored candlesticks. Gold spray painted tea light candles enhanced the ambiance. I wanted the roof covered in fairy lights and we ensured this had a dimmer to change with the mood of the evening. I chose black napkins with White spotted black feathers that I dipped in gold for the name tags. Extra plants and lanterns completed the space and the pool cabana looked stunning. I wanted to enjoy the open-air feel but also keep the ambiance intimate.
On the Menu…
We started with canapés on the lawn served while garden games were played. I wanted a grazing table full of gourmet cheese, cured meats and dips available for guests to help themselves. The sit down dinner was a progressive feast with items such as chicken wrapped in pancetta, preserved lemon, macadamia, bacon & herb stuffing, sage buerre noisette, crackle crumble & whole baby baked snapper stuffed with leek, herbs, lemon and rosemary salt crust.
Bomboniere…
As a bit of fun we had M&M’s printed with our faces and the date and our names – these were handed out at the end of the evening.
Special Memories…
Thunderstorms were predicted, by mid day the clouds disappeared and the afternoon was a crystal clear blue-sky day!
Wedding Songs…
Nick Drake – Pink Moon
Fruit bats – Beautiful Morning light
The Beatles – Here there and everywhere
Amazing songs!
Honeymoon…
Anantara, Uluwatu & The W Seminyak in Bali
The Future…
