By chance, her dress caught his button on the dance floor. They haven’t let go of each other ever since.

We first met…
At a nightclub on my 20th Birthday, and I was wearing a fringe dress with tassels that got caught on Nathan’s coat button, it took a while to untangle and that’s how we started talking and met.

Our dream wedding…
Nathan and I have always been in love with industrial spaces and natural timber detailing. We instantly fell in love with the raw timber detailing of the Deckhouse venue and with Cockatoo Island which is just a short ferry ride away. The match couldn’t be more perfect for our wedding photos!
I wanted the other details of the wedding such as the cake and the dresses to be simple and elegant to extenuate and complement the rustic detailing of our wedding.
Our photographer…
We knew that being from an Italian background the wedding was going to be very loud and chaotic. Andy Morris is a really genuine, fun and easy going guy who we knew would keep everyone calm and we wouldn’t have to worry about a thing. We loved his candid and relaxed style of photography.
Ceremony…
St Francis Xavier, Ashbury
Reception…
Deckhouse, Woolwich
The bridesmaids wore…
Camilla and Marc
The groom and groomsmen wore…
Institchu
The wedding dress…
My dress was Karen Willis Holmes. I started looking too early and tried on over 30 dresses until I found the “one” (I would not recommend this as a strategy!).
Wedding flowers…
I asked Poho Flowers to create a bouquet that was wild and abundant with dark berry tones that popped against my dress yet wasn’t overwhelming. I wanted this to contrast with the bridesmaids, who had all white bouquets with dark navy dresses.
Reception decor…
Our reception featured hanging green foliage with floral accents, fairy lights across the open ceiling and lots of recycled timber accents. The table settings, had white flowers with greenery, recycled timber blocks etched with the table number and succulent bonbonniere for each person.
Being an Architect and working in a creative industry I took on a lot of the planning and detailing myself. I personally designed and made all of my invitations which were laser engraved onto timber. I also made the table numbers and seating charts which were also laser engraved onto recycled off cuts I sourced from a timber yard. It added that personal touch and it represented a part of our style and personality. It was something we were both really proud of and made the added stress of doing all the detailing ourselves totally worth it.
Memorable moments…
Nathan and I were lucky enough to celebrate our wedding on the 7th anniversary of the day we met which happened to fall on a Saturday!
My favourite memory from the day was our first dance, which we had lessons for and then we totally stuffed it up on the night and no one seemed to notice as we magically made up entirely new steps which ended with a perfect dip! We laughed so much and really felt that was more us in the end. The whole day was like a dream and we couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces!

Advice for brides:
Don’t follow too many blogs and Instagram pages, as there are so many fantastic ideas out there it can become overwhelming on which direction to go in. Stick to what represents you both best which is often your first idea.
