K I R S T Y A N D A D R I A N
What better way to welcome our newest member Kirsty to the Modern Wedding team than by writing about her absolutely stunning wedding ceremony! Kirsty and Adrian shared a magical day of love and laughter with their nearest and dearest earlier this year in a wedding celebration that channelled all things stylish with traces of traditional elements.
Proposal In Paradise…
Kirsty and Adrian got engaged in February 2017 during a romantic getaway to Honolulu, Hawaii. After a 2 hour hike to the top of Diamond Head, Kirsty was well and truly ready to go back to their hotel and relax when Adrian got down on one knee. “It was a total surprise,” says Kirsty, “I was so ready to start heading back because I had no idea that Adrian was about to propose!” The newly engaged couple immediately called their family before sharing their exciting news on Instagram!
Men In Black…
From the outset, Kirsty and Adrian knew they wanted to have a simplistic, stylish and modern wedding that incorporated traditional elements. To achieve this contemporary and classic wedding vision, Adrian and his 4 groomsmen all wore sleek black suits with bow ties for a totally dapper look.
Pop The Bubbles…
Kirsty asked her closest gal pals to be her bridesmaids with the help of delicious, personalised cookies! “They were short bread cookies that had ‘Will you be my bridesmaid?’ printed on them in pink icing,” shares Kirsty. On the day of the wedding, the girls got ready together wearing the cutest matching pink satin robes and of course, the mandatory bottle of bubbly! “Our amazing photographer Mark Jay Photography shook up the champagne bottle without telling us so to our surprise, the bubbles started overflowing!” laughs Kirsty. We think it definitely made for a pretty picture perfect moment!
Party Of Angels…
Kirsty’s bridesmaids looked uber angelic in muted pastel baby blue gowns. The swooping sleeves gave the bridal party a heavenly look which was accentuated by the romantic, unstructured bouquets that were made up of peeled back roses.
Modern Bride…
Kirsty looked dazzling in a custom gown designed by Leah Da Gloria! The sleek straight line silhouette was completely beaded and featured a plunging neckline which totally channeled Kirsty’s simplistic and stylish modern wedding vision. The dress also featured a detachable skirt so Kirsty looked like a princess when she walked down the aisle but was still able to hit the dance floor at the reception. The gown was so beautiful, it even brought Kirsty’s dad to tears! “For me, one of the sweetest moments of the day was the first time my dad saw me in my wedding dress and started tearing up,” shares Kirsty.
Big Smiles…
The ceremony was held at St Marks Catholic Church in Drummoyne and was captured by Mark Jay Photography, who managed to achieve the perfect balance of natural and editorial aesthetic with the wedding photos. “The MJP team completely captured all the perfect moments on the big day,” says the couple. And the wedding photographer was just as in awe of the couple as they were of the photography team! “Kirsty was an absolute vision in her Leah Da Gloria gown but the best accessory was the radiant smile she wore all day,” said MJP.
Romantic Reception…
After Kirsty and Adrian tied the knot, the guests travelled to Miramare Gardens in Terrey Hills where the wedding celebrations continued! The reception venue was adorned with decor that championed muted tones of grey, blush and white to create a stylish, modern space. The venue looked almost as dazzling as Kirsty’s gown with extravagant glass candle holders, twinkling chandeliers and elaborate floral centrepieces.
Rosey Cake…
Kirsty and Adrian had the most glorious wedding cake which was one of the most magnificent sights at the reception! The stunning 4 tiered chocolate mud cake incorporated fondant patterns that mimicked the texture of Kirsty’s beaded wedding dress. To make things even more stunning, the cake was topped with peeled back cream and blush roses that seamlessly matched the reception venue decor.
Hawaiian Honeymoon…
After their magical wedding celebrations, Kirsty and Adrian went back to the place where it all began for their honeymoon: Honolulu, Hawaii. The destination held a special place in their hearts after Adrian had proposed there 2 years earlier so it made sense for them to celebrate their new life together in such a romantic, sentimental spot.
Stick To What You Love…
Now that Kirsty and Adrian have settled into their new life together, they’re so excited to be husband and wife. Kirsty can’t wait to help more brides with their weddings now that she works here with us at Modern Wedding! The newlyweds’ advice for other couples planning their wedding is to stick to what you love, not what’s trending. “Your wedding should be a reflection of you and your husband, not the latest fads and trends,” shares Kirsty. Also, Kirsty strongly recommends hiring a wedding planner or stylist to assist you, if you can! “We certainly couldn’t have done it without Isabella from Bella Mia Events,” shares the bride. And advice for the big day? “It’s so cliche but enjoy every moment because it truly does go so fast,” says the happy couple.
