Corinne and Steven knew it was love on the second date. “We both got really dressed up on our first date which wasn’t like us at all so the second date was a “t-shirt” date. It was so fun and relaxing. We knew from that day onwards we were going to get married,” says Corinne. From the outset they wanted a casual wedding that their guests would really enjoy. “We wanted everyone to have heaps to eat and drink. The theme took care of itself as we were married in the most beautiful garden. We added lots of lighting to make it really magical!” Their sun-drenched joyful celebration was given a touch of DIY style, as Corinne and her beau made the reception decorations themselves.
Corinne and Steven held their ceremony and reception at the beautiful Merribee, a house on the New South Wales south coast near Nowra. They invited their wedding party and families down to the location for an entire weekend away. “It made the whole weekend really special so we really had time to enjoy the whole experience,” says Corinne. The ceremony was held in the front garden and their relaxed cocktail reception at the back of the house. Corinne was resplendent in the perfect garden wedding gown, discovered at Rosa Weddings in Sydney’s Leichhardt. “It was perfect for the garden,” says Corinne. “It had flowers over the hip and as straps. It was simple, as I wanted something that would allow me to get nice and close to my groom!” she giggles.
The couple decorated the reception venue themselves with metres and metres of fairy lights. “The total was 1.5 kilometres of fairy lights!” says Corinne. “I wanted the lighting to be romantic. And it was a fairytale. We used a lot of candles as well. We made and bought all the decorations ourselves from inspiration I found along the way. We had a kissing tree so our guests would have somewhere to have some fun and have some great photos.”
Guests dined on a lavish cocktail style menu of four separate courses, including cheeses, canapés, a dessert buffet including ice cream and petit fours followed by supper. “It went down a treat when everyone was burning their energy on the dance floor. It was really important to us that everyone got a lot to eat.”
The couple honeymooned in Fiji and have subsequently settled in Sydney’s Dulwich Hill. And their plans for the future? “Babies!” exlaims Corinne.
Congratulations to the gorgeous couple and thank you so much for sharing your beautiful day with us!
