Renee and Aaron’s wedding took place in picturesque Phuket. The breathtaking views were complemented by fresh greenery and white floral touches, creating the perfect day to celebrate with their closest family and friends.
New York, I Love You…
Renee and Aaron met each other back in 2007 while working in the same store during their time at university. The pair knew it was love when they starting having the same expectations for one another, aligning their interests and goals. Aaron popped the question in New York, renting out a rooftop in Manhattan and hiring a guitarist to play some of their favourite love songs. It was the ultimate romantic proposal, with some of the couple’s family and friends there to witness the surprise, later sharing the happy news on Instagram.
Modern Sophistication…
Both Aaron and Renee agreed that they wanted their wedding to have a classic feel with a modern twist. White florals and greenery created a sleek contemporary feel that tied in perfectly with the stunning scenery. Elements of black and gold added a touch of modern lux, creating a timeless colour palette for their special day.
“I Do” With A View…
The couple chose Como Point Yamu, Phuket for their ceremony venue. Wanting to make the most of this gorgeous location, the pair took a boat tour to Phi Phi Island with close friends for a fun pre-wedding celebration. These stunning views set the scene for their big day, with delicate white floral arrangements and candles creating an intimate and romantic atmosphere for Renee and Aaron to say “I do”.
Part Of The Wedding Squad…
Originally the bride wanted to propose to her bridesmaids in a creative way. But the logistics of a destination wedding meant she asked each girl individually. After making sure everyone was comfortable with being a bridesmaid, they all met up for brunch to celebrate, where Renee gave them all a bag of goodies and a personalised card. Aaron asked his groomsmen by preparing custom labels and placing them on beer bottles. They were all so surprised and honoured when the groom presented them with the bottles, excited for the big day.
Styled To Perfection…
The bridesmaids looked beautiful wearing dresses from Shona Joy. Each wore a different style, with the dresses shared colour pallette tying the look together. To complement their dresses, the bridesmaids wore shoes from Sam Edelman or Nine West. The groomsmen looked sharp in custom made suits from Grooms Grotto, a Calvin Klein slim fit button up and shoes from Cole Haan.
Dress Of Her Dreams…
When looking at wedding dresses, Renee knew she wanted a dress that was light, fitted and non-traditional to suit her petite frame. Even before their engagement, the bride had her heart set on the Alexandra dress from Grace Loves Lace. With sophisticated French lace and a dramatic fishtail skirt, it was love at first sight and the only gown the bride tried on!
Capture The Magic…
After seeing her photos from previous weddings, the couple knew Danae Herrmann was the perfect person to photograph their wedding. Instantly falling in love with her photography style and eye for detail, Renee and Aaron loved her ability to capture the most intimate moments of their special day.
Classic Elegance
Their reception also took place at Como Point Yamu in Phuket. With its industrial appearance, it was the ideal venue to achieve the couple’s vision of a structured, architectural atmosphere. Crisp white floral arrangements, greenery and accent lighting helped create the softened, classic feel the pair wanted. With modern hardware throughout the venue and hints of gold and black, each element beautifully combined to achieve that clean, modern look they bride and groom had dreamt of.
That Takes The Cake…
The bride and groom had an exclusive drink for their reception while their guests enjoyed drinks from the open bar. After enjoying a buffet of incredible Thai dishes, the guests were treated to a gorgeous cake made by the resort.
Continuing Tradition…
Tossing the bouquet and a garter toss were just a few of the traditions the couple chose to include in their big day. The celebrations continued with heartfelt speeches, dances with the pairs mother and father, as well as the couple’s first dance.
A Day To Remember…
The venue itself and the incredible views were something Renee and Aaron won’t ever forget, as well as the spectacular sight of the fire dancers at the end of the evening. But in the end, the pair both agree that having their friends and family there to celebrate their love with them was what made the day most enjoyable, creating a memory they’ll treasure forever.
Married Life…
The pair spent their honeymoon relaxing in spectacular Ko Samui, Thailand. And with the arrival of their little one coming in May, the couple are over the moon excited about this new phase in their life! Looking 40 years into the future, they see themselves with a beautiful family and grandchildren of their own, retired and travelling the world together.
Biggest Challenge
Like most couples planning a destination wedding, Renee and Aaron found organising their big day a challenge. The pair put their trust in wedding planner extraordinaire Ilaire from Wedding Boutique Phuket, who helped create the wedding celebration the couple had been dreaming of! The vision the couple had for their big day was very specific and had not been created before. Being unable to preview anything before the wedding was challenging, but their wedding planner was able to ensure that the day was perfect.
Tips and Advice
The couple couldn’t speak more highly of their wedding planner, advising other couples planning their wedding that “If a wedding planner fits within your budget, hire one! It will take a lot of stress off you and your partner, especially if you’re both working full-time. It is worth it entirely”. When it comes to the big day, Renee and Aaron want to remind couples that something will go wrong, but at the end of the day, it won’t be what people remember. It’s a special day to celebrate with those closest to you. “It only happens once, so cherish it”.
