With travel restrictions easing across New South Wales, there’s a chance for a little romantic getaway! Lucky for us, we live in a breathtaking country and NSW offers some pretty amazing locations. So its time to sit down with your partner, choose your favourite location and get those suitcases packed!
Byron Bay…
You’ll have to travel to Byron Bay if you love the beach! Located on the north coast of New South Wales, this destination is renowned for its picturesque beaches, delicious local produce and beautiful clifftop walking trails. A must-do: get up early to watch the sunrise from Cape Byron by hiking the Cape Byron walking track.
Blue Mountains…
Rug up for this one! The breathtaking Blue Mountains are located west of Sydney and are perfect for a scenery lover. There’s so much to see in the Blue Mountains: steep cliffs, deep forests, waterfalls, the Jenolan caves! If you’re planning to travel there in winter, be prepared for cool temperatures. A must-do: head to the Three Sisters for an amazing bush walk that offers views over the whole mountains.
Lord Howe Island…
This tiny World Heritage-listed island is located in the Tasman Sea east of Port Macquarie. For a quiet getaway, this is the perfect destination! It offers some amazing activities such as bird watching, scuba diving and snorkelling. A must-do: hike Mount Gower for an unforgettable experience that will show you gorgeous flora and fauna.
The Hunter Valley…
This location is for our couples that want a more romantic getaway! The Hunter Valley is located north of Sydney and is known for its amazing wine. There’s plenty of luxurious spa retreats, so you can completely unwind here. A must-do: visit the historic 1866 winery called Audrey Wilkinson and sample their best wines.
Snowy Mountains…
To visit the Snowy Mountains you’ll need thick jumpers, warm boots, a winter jacket and probably some snow gear! It’s about a 5-hour drive from Sydney, but you’ll be able to see snow. You can come here to ski, snowboard, hike, camp.. the options are endless. A must-do: climb Australia’s tallest mountain – Mount Kosciuszko.
Newcastle…
If you’re after a getaway that isn’t too far, then Newcastle is the location for you! Newcastle offers a combination of coastal views and history, so you can visit the beach or venture the Newcastle Museum. A must-do: Newcastle has word-class walks and cycle trails, so why not grab a bike and take your partner on a scenic tour?
Coffs Harbour…
Beautiful Coffs Harbour is located on the north coast of New South Wales. Again, this is a totally scenic location! Whilst it’s famous for its big banana, you’ll also find plenty of rainforests, beaches, nature reserves, waterfalls, national parks. A must-do: visit Canopy Cafe in Dorrigo to enjoy breakfast with a view over the national park.
Port Macquarie…
Take a scenic road-trip to Port Macquarie. This quiet town will give you a peaceful getaway. There’s something for everyone here, with the adventurists being able to go skydiving or go karting! The calm couple can try some yoga or enjoy the local cafes. A must-do: visit the Koala Hospital to get up-close with these fluffy animals.
Batemans Bay…
Take a trip to the south coast! It’s at the heart of Australia’s Oyster Coast, so if you two love seafood you’ll have to try some here! A must-do: have a romantic dinner at JJ’s at The Marina for a waterfront dining experience.
Mudgee…
The beautiful country town of Mudgee. Compared to all the beach and nature destinations, this one is very different! Mudgee is known for its beautiful colonial buildings, museums, galleries and heritage. Of course, there’s still plenty of outdoor activities for you to do! A must-do: stay in an amazing Bubbletent for a romantic getaway you won’t forget.
