After a romantic proposal in Santorini, William and Sophie set about planning a fun and relaxed affair imbued with lots of personal details. Joined by their closest family and friends, the pair celebrated their love for each other at Sophie’s parents’ property in the Adelaide Hills.
After a morning of pouring rain, the skies luckily cleared moments before the ceremony was due to begin. Wearing a couture gown from Alexis George, Sophie walked down the aisle, with her dad by her side, to the tune of Angus and Julia Stone’s ‘The Wedding Song’, sung by two close friends.
William and Sophie recited vows they had written themselves in front of a gorgeous rustic arch, built by Sophie’s brother-in-law. Metres of handmade bunting were strung between the trees, while buckets of fresh flowers lined the aisle. Sophie and her bridesmaids carried beautiful peonies, while her flower girls wore baby’s breath flower crowns.
Their colour palette was kept soft with lots of cool colours, including the bridesmaid’s chiffon dresses in varying shades. ‘I took weeks trying to select each bridesmaid’s individual chiffon colour based on tiny colour swatches. I wanted the dresses to fade out in charcoal, grey and lilac colours,’ says Sophie.
The couple’s good friend and florist, kylie, decorated the marquee with a suspended floral feature above the bridal table as well as small flower vases scattered among the tables. Sophie used pictures of each of their guests to set up a seating chart and place settings along with miss matched vintage side plates and cutlery. ‘I had a custom S&W stamp made which I used on the back of the wedding invites, on each napkin and on the lolly bags – this was also one of my favourite details!’
Sophie’s sister and her husband worked tirelessly to prepare their 1965 ‘Miami Princess’ caravan for the occasion. The mobile vintage caravan bar was a unique and fitting touch. ‘They now hire ‘My Miami Van’ out as a mobile bar for all types of events,’ says Sophie.
Guests enjoyed a catered sit-down meal followed by dancing and lots of memory making in the open photo booth.
