They met ten years ago on Bondi beach, introduced by a mutual friend. From day one they knew there was a special connection. “Deep down I think we just knew that we would end up together. He even went so far as to proclaim that he would marry me after we met for the very first time!”
The night Kamran asked Alison to marry him, he took her back to the place they met ten years earlier. “It was such a special moment,” says Alison. “To go back to where it all started… such a perfect place for us to start the next chapter of our life together.”
Their wedding ideal was ‘classic and elegant’ without being too formal. “I knew I wanted neutral tones like cream, apricot and sand, with black and charcoal,” Alison said. “I’ve always loved old-school Hollywood glamour, and I wanted to reflect this through my choice of veil, dress, hair and accessories.” Her wedding gown was a simple, elegant Lisa Ho dress, with the addition of a silk black sash. “It was absolutely perfect,” she smiles.
Alison was very passionate about her choice of David Austin roses as a main feature of her bouquet. “The cream, blush and apricot David Austin and Perfect roses were beautiful. They’re my favourite. I had always dreamt that my wedding bouquet would be stunning but also smell sensational,” she says.
Alison and Kamran chose to have a wedding away in the New South Wales Hunter Valley. “One of the great things about doing this was that we could arrange some get togethers prior to the big day, so everyone was very familiar with one another.” They spoiled their guests on arrival, with Alison hosting a high tea and manicures for the ladies, whilst Kamran and the gentlemen enjoyed a game of golf. “That night we held a dinner to welcome our guests personally,” said Alison.
Margan Family Wines provided the perfect location for their wedding ceremony and reception. “We fell in love with it the first time we went there for lunch. I remember standing in the courtyard thinking that this would be the perfect place to get married.” Their ceremony was held on-site, overlooking the amazing vines and the beautiful hills of Broke. Afterwards, their guests enjoyed canapés and watched the sunset, prior to a luxurious three course meal in the Margan’s reception room. “We decorated the venue very simply, with lots and lots of tealight candles,” said Alison. They also carried on the theme of roses, with small posies of cream and blush David Austin and apricot Perfect roses on the tables.
Their unique bomboniere delighted guests: they personally designed wine and cheese hampers that were delivered the day prior to the wedding as a welcome gift. “The hampers featured our favourite Hunter Valley wines and a selection of local Hunter Valley cheeses and accompaniments.”
Alison and Kamran spent their wedding night in the lap of luxury at Chateau Elan, The Vintage. They indulged in a 6 week long honeymoon, travelling through Paris, Rome, the Amalfi Coast, St Tropez, London and Phuket. They are looking forward to upgrading from their apartment to a house, where they can raise a family together in a few years time.
