We’re coming up on new collection time for bridal fashion. At the Modern Wedding offices it’s a time of excitement, swooning and all crowding around one another’s screens for a glimpse of the newest and nicest in Spring/Summer wedding fashion. We flick through the images and lookbooks, wistfully sighing and gasping in almost equal measure as each new design is revealed. So we decided to share that wonderful feeling with you, our gorgeous Modettes, because we just know you love wedding fashion as much as we do. I was lucky enough to get my hands on some of the new collection images from Brides Desire by Wendy Sullivan not long ago (and had a chance to speak with the lady herself about what inspired it recently.)
“My recent collections have all been inspired by the notion of femininity,” says Wendy. “The beauty of the female form, the exquisite nature of all things feminine, lady-like and elegant. I am inspired by romance and by all things vintage.”
One of Wendy’s key aesthetics is the use of embellishment and colour in her collections. “I have used both colour and layering in this collection,” she says. “I feel that the use of colour and layering really brings out the beauty in the details. For example, in layering a colour under a gorgeous eclectic lace, the detail really stands out, adding to the overall old world charm of the dress.”
Wendy’s most recent collection features the finest fabrics and embellishments. “I chose vintage style lace, layered over satin and soft flowing tulle, and then I used only the highest quality Swarovski crystals and embellishments to finish each gown.”
Brides Desire are well-known for their stunning gowns, beautiful detail and soft feminine silhouettes. They also believe in creating gowns for all shapes and sizes. “I pride myself on designing collections for a wide range of brides,” says Wendy. “From sizes 4 to 28. The style of these gowns in particular are perfect for any bride-to-be with a distinctly Vintage or French Romantic sense of style and a very feminine aesthetic.”
