A Laid-back Bayside Wedding

Modern Wedding Posted: August 25, 2016

W A Y N E   +   R E B E K A H

A Hampton’s style bayside wedding was exactly what Wayne and Rebekah had hoped for. Styled with buckets of blowsy blooms and foliage, the beachy vibes were strong throughout the styling of their wedding.

How we met…

We were introduced by good friends and knew it was love straight away!!

Our engagement…

We got engaged in June 2015. We were walking our dog along the beach, as we walked along I came across a giant heart in the sand with the words will you marry me inside. Wayne then got down on one knee.

Our photographer…
Our photographer was Kat Stanley. We loved her photos, especially how natural they are.

Our dream wedding…
We wanted a relaxed, fun atmosphere. We love the Hampton’s style, so Watsons Bay Hotel was the perfect venue for this. All we added were simple white flowers.

The ceremony & reception…
The ceremony was held on Gibson’s Beach Reserve and styled by Piccolo & Poppi. The reception was held in the sunset room at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel. Between the ceremony and reception the guests had an hour of drinks and canapés on the top deck of Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel.

The bridal party…
I had three bridesmaids: my two best friends and maid-of-honour was my twin sister. Wayne had five groomsmen: four close mates and his brother as best man. Our flower girl was our niece, she wore a dress from Stevie and Me.

The bridesmaids wore…
The bridesmaids’ dresses were made by Rachelle Couture, the girls wore different style dresses but all in the same colour and fabric.

The groom and groomsmen…

The boys’ outfits were from Politix and bowties from OTAA. Wayne wore the same outfit as the boys, but he also wore a jacket from Politix.

The gown…
My dress was from Hope X Page, it’s a Watters gown. It was an ivory, lace gown with a peach tulle overlay.

The flowers…
I wanted seasonal, big, white, full flowers. We added some pale apricot flowers to work in with the girls’ dresses and the tulle on my dress.

Styling…

Our tables were quite simple; we used white flowers with deep greens in simple large mason jars and a variety of tea light votives. I bought sailing boat place card holders from pottery barn, which I used to hold our table numbers. They worked in well with the nautical theme of the room. Styling and flowers were by Piccolo and Poppi.

Reception fare…
We had a sit down meal alternate drop with cake as dessert. The entree was a warm salad or prawns and the main was either beef or chicken.

The bomboniere…
Our bomboniere was two heart shaped cookies. The guests’ place cards were attached to these.

Memorable moments…
A highlight was definitely the dance floor, we wanted a party atmosphere and that’s what we got, from the moment the cake was cut the dance floor was full until the end of the night. Our band was Reckless Republic and they were fantastic!

The soundtrack for the day…
Walking down aisle: My Girl, The Temptations
Signing: Better Together, Jack Johnson
Walking up aisle: Signed, sealed delivered, Stevie Wonder.
Entrance to reception: Power of Love, Huey Lewis
Cutting cake: Sweet Baby, Macy Gray
First dance: You are the best thing, Ray LaMontagne

The honeymoon…

We had two weeks in Hawaii for our honeymoon, Waikiki and up on the north shore.

The future…

We got the best wedding present early, two-and-a-half months before the wedding we found out we were pregnant. So we are awaiting the arrival of our first baby in November.

In 40 years time…
We hope to be living happily ever after!

Words of wisdom…
Make the most of all the excitement, that special time that is completely about you two as a couple. Don’t leave things until the last minute and outsource where you can! Don’t stress just relax, you’ve spent months planning this one day, so sit back and enjoy ever minute.
