Aimee and Matthew celebrated the start of their marriage with an intimate wedding surrounded by luscious florals, love, family and friends.
F R O M T H E C O U P L E . . .
We first met…
Matt: At my good mates wedding, I was the MC and she was a bridesmaid.
Aimee: At my cousins wedding; Matt was the MC and I was a bridesmaid.
We knew it was love…
Matt: Pretty much the first time I met her, definitely after the first date I knew I was in love.
Aimee: After our first date – he picked me up (drove an hour to my house) and when I asked him where he would like to go for dinner, he told me he had already booked a restaurant. And he didn’t just pick any restaurant, he researched to find the best Italian restaurant in Cronulla.
Also that night when walking along the footpath to the restaurant, he randomly swapped from my right side to my left side, and when I asked why, he said so if a car comes he can protect me.
His chivalry blew me away!
The proposal…
Aimee: We got engaged in Cancun, Mexico. I was on a 3month holiday in Central and South America and the longest time I was in one place was 5 days in Cancun. Matt surprised me and flew over to Cancun to meet up with me. Matt took me on a date and organised a surprise dinner. We walked down to the local restaurant and said the name for the booking, however, when the waitress was taking us to our table she was walking out of the restaurant and towards the beach. We arrived at the top of the stairs to the beach, where there was a candle lit walkway down the stairs and onto the beach where there was a table for 2 set up with our own private waiter!! The waiter greeted us and explained to us that we would be having a 5 course meal and an unlimited supply of Moet. I looked and Matt and started crying of happiness – this was the most beautiful experience anyone had ever arranged for me. After course 4, Matt began talking about how much I mean to him before whispering in my ear – Will you Marry Me? And getting down on one knee with an absolutely beautiful ring in hand. Of course, I said YES!

We always dreamed of a…
A relaxed wedding – just an intimate celebration with our family and close friends.
The ceremony…
The ceremony was absolutely beautiful – It was decorated perfectly by the Wedding Designers team with a bohemian vibe, gorgeous greenery & florals and unique graphics. All our guests (as well as Matt and I) were absolutely blown away!
The ceremony was everything we wished for and more – a beautiful setting, gorgeous styling, perfect weather and our family & close friends by our side celebrating the most magical day of our lives.
The dress…
I knew from the beginning that I wanted a lace dress with sleeves – A classic dress. I fell in love with Steven Khalil’s designs but unfortunately they were out of my budget. I searched all over Sydney for a gown before I came across the Essense gown in a brochure. I waited 3 months for the gown to arrive into the store. Once the dress arrived, I tried it on and loved it!
Accessories…
I wore my late mother’s earrings on the inside of my dress as well as a pair of diamond earrings given to me by my father and stepmother as a wedding gift.
The groom…
A tailored navy blue suit from Ruben F Scarf
The bridesmaids…
The bridesmaids wore Adrianna Papell or Joanna August gowns.
The reception…
We celebrated our reception at Wandin Valley Cricket Pavillion.
On the menu…
ENTRÉE
Braised pork belly w/ apple & ginger puree, mizuno salad & Asian reduction
Lemon & basil arancini w/ sweet pea sauce
MAIN
200g beef fillet w/ potato gratin, horseradish jus & broad beans
Confit chicken Maryland w/ medley of butternut pumpkin, chick peas, cashews and homemade harissa
DESSERT
Soft centred Belgium chocolate pudding w/ vanilla bean gelato
Lemon tart w/ redskin ice cream & almond tuille
Decor…
Aimee: The Wedding Designers decorated our reception. Matt and I had 3 wishes for decoration (as well as showing the stylist/florist/graphics designer images of the style we were after) which were: Over-the-top greenery and florals, Garden Party and Festoon Lighting. The colours were chose were greens, whites/creams/pale pinks and deep red. We had pictures of our parents and grandparents on their wedding day displayed as well as a picture of myself and my late mother. We also had thank you cards for each guest for being such a special part in our life and making us who we are today.
Wedding photography…
We chose our Photographers because their style, personality and experience is everything we were looking for. They were fun, relaxed and knew exactly what they were doing.
Their style was vintage, classic and natural. All their pictures are unique in capturing the personality and bond between couples. They are amazing at what they do and we can’t speak highly enough of them!
Memorable moments…
Aimee: Arriving at the venue and getting a sneak peak of my groom! Also, Matt and I’s photos together – I loved having that time together, enjoying each other’s company on the best day of our lives.
Matt: Seeing my Bride for the first time and celebrating such an amazing day with family and friends.
Wedding accomodation…
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza, Hunter Valley in a King Deluxe Suite.
Advice for brides-to-be?
Just enjoy every minute of it – both planning and on the day. Try not to get consumed with small stuff, just remind yourself what the day is actually about – marrying the person you love!
The honeymoon…
New Zealand – North Island and Cook Islands – Rarotonga & Aitutaki.
Our home is in…
In the Sutherland Shire, Sydney.
Plans for the future…
Aimee: We would love a family together – kids, a dog and a house. A healthy a happy life. Travelling the world. Many adventures. A house with a big backyard so Matt can play soccer with the kids.
Matt: We will be looking to upgrade from a unit to a house. To travel and have children. To live a happy and healthy life.
