Theme…
Classic Fairytale Wedding /Old World Romantic/Simple – less is more. We wanted… Simple…..Stunning….. Classic. We also used ‘Love Birds’ in our stationery which was carried throughout the theme of the wedding.
Palette…
Very Neutral and soft – ivory/soft pinks/pearls/lace. I am in love with pearls, lace and roses and felt it all fit together perfectly.
The Dress…
A corseted strapless gown in ivory styled with an elegant French corded lace bodice finishing low on the hip with a fitted duchess satin waist band to accentuate the waist. The gown was complemented with a romantic full tulle skirt with a removable train.
I had the dress designed by Mira Mandic – it was the most amazing experience and the girls were wonderful, tailoring the dress to suit my body shape. The highlight of the dress for me was definitely the elongated bodice and removable train, it allowed me to dance the night away and not need to worry about bunching/or hooking up my skirt which would have ruined the look of the dress.
The Flowers…
I has a gorgeous posy style bouquet filled with various ivory and white roses, bouvardia and camellia.
Decorating…
The Baillieu Ballroom was fitted out with long rectanugular tables and white Tiffany Chairs. Three beautiful Silver chandeliers hung from the ceilings which created the classic vibe we were after. The tables were covered with a mixture of clear and crystal vases filled with roses, lisianthus and freesias as well as ample votives providing romantic candleight. The table numbers were one of our favourite features of the wedding, we had photos taked prior to the wedding holding the table number and these photographs served as both our seating chart and table numbers which provided that personal touch which our guests loved.
The Cake…
Our cake consisted of 5 Tiers of both white Choc Raspberry and Marble flavoured cup cakes with a top cake decorated with Dahlias, Roses, Lisianthus, Bouvardia Flowers and rose petals cascading down the cupcakes. Around the base of the top cake featured silver and pearl edible cake decorations which represented the straps on the bridesmaid dresses.
On The Day…
We just could not stop smiling!! Overwhelming feelings of joy, anticipation and raw emotion for the loved ones that had passed and could not be there, but so close in our hearts had set the scene for our incredible day that was to be! Having my daughter a part of our big day was magic and the feeling you get when all of your closest friends and family are in one place at the same time to share the beginning of your journey together is something that is just so special, we felt so blessed and grateful.
We were blessed with the most spectacular weather for a garden wedding, it was a perfect 23 degree day with no wind. The Tulip Tree Lawn was luscious and green, the autumn colours spread around the gardens were breathtaking, it was a magical romantic setting! White garden chairs, scattered rose petals, hanging milk bottles and baubles filled with roses, dahlia’s, lisianthus and freesias plus two pedastools topped with the most enchanted cascading flower arrangements with roses, lisianthus, dahlias and phalaenopsis orchids set the perfect scene to say “I do”.
The female guests were very excited when they discovered in the ladies bathroom… a basket lined with the same fabric used in our invitations, this was filled with all the essentials – perfume, deodorant, bobby pins, band-aids, lip glosses, mints, nail file etc so the ladies could freshen up during the night.
The highlight of our day was after we sadly fare welled our guests (we could have partied all night), and drove Scott’s late father’s 1966′ Mercedes SL230 into the distance with a line of fireworks lighting up the garden and creating silhouettes of Scott and I in the car as we waved good bye out the window, it was such a special moment to share and reflect on what a perfect wedding we had just had and how lucky we were to have each other.
