O A K A N D C R A I G
Oak and Craig said “I do” in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their loved ones, in the beautiful spot of Sydney Park where they first met. What followed was a magical wedding reception at the incredible Cafe Birkenhead which had been transformed into an elegant floral wonderland for the occasion.
Proposal In The Park…
After meeting on Tinder, Pawin (Oak) and Craig’s love story began. First officially meeting in Sydney Park, the couple quickly knew they had something special. This sentimental location continued to hold major significance as their romance unfolded. “Once we started dating, we were so compatible so it didn’t take long to realise that it was love and that we wanted to have a future together,” shares Oak. In November 2018, Craig orchestrated a romantic champagne picnic in Sydney Park and got down on one knee to pop the question.
Pink Ladies…
Oak had a simplistic wedding vision for the big day which featured modern elegance and romantic touches of pink. This theme was reflected by her bridal party who were instructed to wear pink on the big day! “The bridesmaids wore their own style dress but with the same theme and direction as I didn’t want them to have the cliche uniform bridesmaids dress,” shares Oak. On the big day, the bridesmaids’ looks were complemented by stunning rose bouquets that were adorned with vibrant Australian native flowers.
Dreamy DIY Dress…
Oak dusted off her sewing skills for the wedding and delegated herself with the impressive task of making her very own wedding dress from scratch! “I could very clearly visualise the kind of wedding dress I wanted and I’ve always been able to sew so I decided to make the dress myself!” says Oak. The minimalistic style bridal gown was made out of 100% silk taffeta and featured a hand-sewn corset. “Making my own dress meant that I was able to have a one of a kind dress that perfectly suited my personality!” shares Oak.
Ceremony Under The Trees…
The wedding ceremony was held at Sydney Park in Alexandria, the same place where Oak and Craig first met and, later, got engaged! The wedding was photographed by Hugo Photography & Film who captured the natural, spontaneous and effortless beauty of the day perfectly.
Party At Cafe Birkenhead…
The celebrations then continued at the stunning Cafe Birkenhead! The already beautiful venue was adorned with an elaborate collection of florals that followed the wedding colour scheme of pink, white and purple. Sets of the romantic blooms were displayed around the room, with a grand feature spilling over the bridal table. Cafe Birkenhead also provided dazzling fairy lights and delicate chandeliers which added to the breathtaking beauty of the venue. Tables for 75 guests were set up circling the room, with space for loved ones to dance the night away in the middle.
Chefs Kiss…
For the big day, Oak also made her own wedding cake! “I tried so many cake samples from so many different stores but each time, the taste was missing,” shares Oak, “So, I decided to make the cake myself!” Oak created a gorgeous semi-naked cake with the help of her bridesmaids. The sweet treat was decorated with the same pink, white and purple flowers that decorated the reception.
Country Love…
Oak and Craig’s wedding soundtrack was made up of heartfelt country tunes that were super sentimental to the newlyweds. The two main songs on the big day were ‘From This Moment On’ by Shania Twain and ‘All For You’ by Keith Urban. These perfect love songs added to the romantic, rustic feel of the day.
Perfect Plan…
Oak and Craig had the most magical day celebrating their love with their nearest and dearest at the beautiful Cafe Birkenhead. The newlyweds spent a year planning their perfect wedding day and recommend that future brides and grooms don’t rush the planning process! “When you’re planning your wedding, just choose what’s best for your love story,” says Oak, “Don’t overspend if you don’t have the budget and don’t rush your decisions.”
