I left for my honeymoon before the end of daylight savings and after 2 weeks in sunny Bali I was shocked by the dark evening skies. It’s funny how the end of daylight savings marks the beginning of hibernation and an almost completely different lifestyle. As much as we complain about the cold and our fading tans there is a certain romantic quality about the beginning of the cold season.
This engagement portrait from Jetty Blue Photography is very season appropriate not to mention stunning! The sepia colours remind me of autumn leaves and the dark grey skies tell of a smoldering love story. I just love the simplicity of Emma’s trench coat that looks straight from a film noir and creates a really classic look.
Photographer Sam Halpern suggests that an engagement shoot is a great opportunity to test run a location you had in mind for your wedding photos before the big day. “Sometimes locations look good to the eye, but may not work so well as a photo location. Or, you may want to go somewhere completely different so that your complete coverage that includes your engagement shots and wedding day shots all have a unique look. This is fantastic if for example, you’re having a very formal wedding day and would like something a bit more edgy or rustic to add some variety but don’t want that look on the wedding day.”
Thank you to Jetty Blue Photography, Emma and Andrew for sharing with us!
