On the grounds of a private residence in the Southern Highlands, Annica and Michael said ‘I Do’ in a rustic barnyard wedding with an elegant twist. The day featured an abundance of white and pastel flowers, foliage, gold accents and ambient lighting.
Bridal party beginnings…
Annica and Michael met at a bar in Sydney’s Darling Harbour, both celebrating seperate hens and bucks weekends and knew that it was love from the very start. “Safe to say we have never left each other’s side since” said Annica.
Michael popped the question on the couples anniversary on a weekend away at the Hunter Valley, over wine and cheese and was “total heaven and a fairytale proposal!”
“Whilst out on a wine tour a team of decorators came in and transformed the house using lanterns, rose petals, candles and fairy lights. After the surprise of walking into the house and seeing all the decorations Michael walked me to the end of the desk and on a landing below was a huge MARRY ME sign lit up” Annica says.
No rain on this parade…
The couple didn’t let the weather dull their spirits on their special day, changing their garden ceremony plans to tie the knot under a 4 post arbour draped with fabric and adorned with floral on the grounds of Dentdale, a private residence in the Southern Highlands of NSW.
1920’s inspiration…
The bride was inspired by 1920’s silk and French chantilly lace. Her gown was custom couture from Bizzaro Bridal, featuring a deep V plunge neckline and pearl detail. “Having an outdoor destination wedding in a natural setting I wanted a timeless shape gown that was elegant” and paired the gown with an unstructured bouquet of pastel roses, varieties of gum, dusty miller, lisianthus and queen anne’s lace.
Rustic notes…
The ceremony was decorated with long rustic timber tables paired with white bentwood chairs. Each table was adorned with foliage runners, gold candlesticks, linen napkins and gold cutlery. When guests looked above their tables they were treated to festoon lighting, suspended floral swings with quilted candles and a statement chandelier.
Love is the key…
Each of the guests left Michael & Annica’s special day with either a personalised candle or an antique brass key which doubled as a bottle opener with “love is the key” engraved.
Unplugged…
The couple had one word of wisdom to couples for enjoying their special day, “Have an unplugged wedding ceremony. This enabled Lara our photographer to capture our guest’s expression during the ceremony without them holding a phone or camera up to their faces. We also wanted our guests to share the moment with us and not through their screens”.
