Something Blue

Modern Wedding Posted: January 25, 2012

My fiancée and I love shopping together. He’s my favourite shopping partner and these days I’d probably pick shopping with him over one of my girlfriends. When it came to shopping for my perfect wedding dress I hated that I had to do it without him and keeping it a secret is proving even harder! So why do we do it? Am I really scared that showing him my wedding dress before the big day will doom my marriage to years of bad luck?

Weddings are wrapped in customs and tradition. Brides who have strayed from tradition their whole lives find themselves indulging in the century old do’s and don’ts that a wedding brings. When you really think about it, it’s actually quite bizarre – a garter is welcomed to a usually garterless leg, we carefully wear ‘something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue’ and for the first time since they were three our bridesmaids are dressed in matching outfits!

Our wedding customs and traditions may be bizarre, but so is love and I’ve heard that love makes the world go round…so in the spirit of tradition we thought it would be nice to share some ideas for your ‘something blue’. This is often the most difficult of the ‘something’s’ especially if blue doesn’t match your theme, but we wouldn’t want you to miss out on all that faithfulness and loyalty that blue symbolises, so check out these blue wedding touches.

There are so many ways to incorporate your  ‘something blue’ whether it’s super bold or really subtle. These last images I found through pinterest and I just had to share them because they’re so cute! I love a cosy blue shawl for a winter bride!

You may not be convinced that wearing blue guarantees faithfulness and loyalty or that cutting the cake together brings fertility, but it’s nice to think that they might.

How are you wearing your old, new, borrowed and blue? Drop by our facebook and share your bright ideas!

Isabel 🙂
