Tips for Hosting an Alcohol-Free Wedding

Modern Wedding Posted: July 23, 2020

The idea of a dry wedding can be a difficult thought to process, but we have put together some simple tips on how to go alcohol-free. Whatever your reason is, check out our guide below on how you can make your alcohol free wedding spectacular for you and your guests.

Be Prepared…

Be sure to inform guests beforehand so there are no shocked faces on the day! You can add a note in the invitations or a small mention on your wedding website as a courtesy for your loved ones. This will avoid any surprises or negative comments from guests who think they need booze to have fun!

The Right Time…

You may want to think about scheduling your wedding to a time where the absence of alcohol will be expected. Perhaps a brunch or an early afternoon wedding would work for you! A bar could be replaced with a fresh juicing station or a coffee stand.

Keeping It Fun…

To keep the reception interesting and engaging, invest in some amusing entertainment! Pick the perfect MC who will interact with your guests and encourage everyone to join in. Keep your guests entertained with dancers or games to help break the ice and start the celebration. This is a great way to get people off their seats and having fun!

Tunes Time…

We all know alcohol gets everyone on the dancefloor, but another thing that makes the dance floor irresistible is good music! Use the money you save by not having an open bar and spend it on your favourite band or DJ to play all your favourite tunes. We guarantee the dancefloor will be happening in no time!

The Mock Kind…

Mocktails still taste and look as amazing as the real thing. This means you can still have a funky bar where guests can go and try some fun and festive drinks! The bride and groom can also get creative with this by customising the names of the mocktails, and by creating a personalised drinks menu.

The Feast…

Without alcohol, food is everything! Be sure to pay extra attention to the menu, giving your loved ones a meal they won’t forget! This is even more important in quieter times, which is when guests usually opt to wait at the bar. Have the caterers provide fun and interesting canapes while your guests wait.

Location, Location…

Truly wow your guests with your venue! Excite them with an impressive view, or decorate your venue with a particular theme that will give your special day an extra twist. This will leave a memorable mark on your loved ones.
