What You Need To Know About Wedding Insurance

Modern Wedding Posted: March 24, 2020

Planning a wedding can be very stressful and there be situations that arise that you may not have expected. In such uneasy times, it’s important to make smart decisions when planning your wedding. Below we will talk about the information you should know about wedding insurance so that you can be prepared for anything.

What Is Wedding Insurance?

We have insurance for so many things in our lives such as cars, health, home and life insurance. So why not cover yourself for your big day? Wedding insurance is an ‘event’ insurance that protects you from losses or unexpected occurrences throughout or leading up to the wedding day. Weddings can be very expensive so its important to know that you have protection in case the worst happens.

What Is Included…

Just like any policy offered for insurance of all kinds, there are certain levels you can purchase which will determine how much will be covered. Both local and destination insurance are available to ensure you are covered no matter where you are tying the knot. When using the company Dream Wedding insurance as an example, you can see they have four packages available ranging from Bronze ($211.50) to Platinum ($1220.75).

What is generally covered:

  • Wedding event cancellation, postponement or rescheduling
  • Wedding supplier failure
  • Hired care and transport
  • Wedding attire and wedding rings
  • Wedding gifts
  • Accidental damage to hired equipment
  • Personal Liability

What isn’t included…

There are always exceptions to policies and these generally include the following:

  • Cancellation, postponement, and rescheduling is not covered if the cover is purchased less than 30 days prior to the wedding
  • Wedding costs will not be covered/ insurance is not valid for the reason; “Change of mind”

When Should You Get It?

Purchasing wedding insurance is just like purchasing travel insurance; it should be done early. It is recommended to buy wedding insurance as soon as you have secured a date and booked a venue. This will allow you and your partner to feel safe and secure as you continue to plan for the wedding.

Don’t Forget To Read Carefully…

Remember that it’s always essential to read and research the policy you choose, that way you understand everything you are covered for in case something unexpected does occur. Having insurance allows for a safety blanket that means you won’t have to be stressing about the small stuff on your big day.
