You can’t really go wrong with a white wedding cake. The perk of a white wedding cake is that it goes with almost any theme and colour scheme. Likewise, white wedding cakes are classic and timeless and can make beautiful centrepieces.

Here are a few ways to make white wedding cakes stand out:

 1. Add volume

A big cake is more likely to catch attention. White wedding cakes generally need volume in order to stand out. The best way to create volume is to have a cake with multiple tiers. Your cake decorator will be able to help you decide on the size and the number of  tiers. If you are serving white cupcakes, use cake stands to create volume.

2. Consider the shape

Besides volume, you should consider the shape of the cake. Although white wedding cakes always work in a round or square shape, an unusual shape is more likely to stand out and be remembered. If you want your cake to stand out, consider architectural, modern or avant-garde cakes for something more unconventional and attention grabbing.

3. Add a touch of colour

Decorators make white cakes stand out by adding a pop of colour. A touch of colour can be a great way to make your cake tie in with the rest of your theme. There are many ways to add colour to a white wedding cake, such as colourful cake toppers, ribbons, fresh fruit or flowers or even stencilling patterns or calligraphy on the icing.

4. Consider some patterns and texture

White wedding cakes are traditionally iced with fondant. However, to make your cake stand out, consider a hand-frosted cake with buttercream to add texture to your cake. A hand-frosted white wedding cake often suits rustic, earthy or outdoor wedding themes. Alternatively, add texture to your white wedding cake with edible décor. Don’t forget that white chocolate makes delicious and gorgeous cake décor!

5. Personalise it

The best way to make white wedding cakes stand out from others is to personalise it. A unique, quirky or striking addition to a white wedding cake will ensure that your guests will remember your cake. Whether it is calligraphy, a cake topper or stunning flower arrangement, there are dozens of ways to make your cake unforgettable.

The right cake decorator will ensure that your white wedding cake will suit your wedding theme and stand out!
