If ‘wedding’ was a language then we would be fluent..!! At Modern Wedding HQ it’s all about weddings, and when we’re not blogging beautiful wedding ideas, seeing gorgeous real wedding pictures, pinning wedding inspiration or discussing wedding dilemmas with brides on Facebook, we’re attending weddings on the weekend! Each year we like to put together a little list of predictions for 2015 wedding trends. These are based on our day to day internet browsing, things we’ve seen on social media, word from our amazing suppliers and new ideas that are so awesome we just know they’re going straight to the trend zone!
The Dress…
2015 will see international designers like Galia Lahav, Berta Bridal and Zuhair Murad further cement their place in the bridal stakes with their distinctly different styles. These brands exploded on social media last year with gasp worthy campaign images leaving brides asking ‘Where can I get one?’ With the success of these brands willing other designers to try their hand in the social media age, we’re forecasting even more choice than ever before with smaller, independent designers finding a place in the market.
To try on the latest gowns from Berta Bridal contact Brides by Francesca in Sydney or for Galia Lahav visit Eternal Bridal in Sydney and Melbourne.
Entertainment & Fun…
The photobooth has been a novelty staple at weddings for some time now, but in 2015 technology merges with our love of Instagram to bring a new style of photo sharing and memory making. Using a unique hashtag, apps and various other processes, wedding guests are invited to share photos from the day on their Instagram, while a device at the wedding can print the images in a polaroid or photobooth style (depending on the device) to stick into a guestbook or for guests to keep as a memento.
Check out the Little Pixel Box who offer the Insta-Pixelbox – a simple way of printing images from Instagram using a unique hashtag.
Colour…
When it comes to colour we’re feeling blue. At the most recent New York Fashion Week we saw lots of blue walking the runway, particularly the powder blue and navy variety. Translated to weddings and we’re predicting (hoping!) to see colour palettes of white and powder blue or navy, blush and gold.
Check out our bridal shower shoot with Vera Wang Wedgwood in the latest edition of Modern Wedding magazine for powder blue style inspiration!
Antique and Edwardian Style Crowns…
We’ve seen a lot of flower crowns, and they are really lovely, but pleeeease can we have something different now? It seems our prayers have been answered. Antique and Edwardian inspired crowns are subtly appearing one wedding at a time and we LOVE them! Thanks to Lauren Conrad who donned an Edwardian style headband for her September 2014 wedding in exceptional style, we think this trend will definitely catch on. Fine and delicate, we believe the antique and Edwardian style crowns are a worthy successor to the flower crown.
We love the hand made pieces from Polly McGeary, Agnes Hart and Aya Jewellery on Etsy.
Bouquets are BIGGER…
In 2014 bouquets were less structured with a ‘just picked from the garden’ appeal. Little has changed except that florists and brides are taking their bouquets to a new level, a bigger one! This year will see bigger bouquets that really make a statement as a bride walks down the aisle. While bountiful bouquets look amazing in photos, pre-wedding workouts will need to include some upper body strength training because these large bunches certainly don’t come lightly!
Fresh Produce Table…
The fresh food revival doesn’t stop at weddings. We love the idea of a fresh produce table featuring seasonal organic fruit and vegetables, which is even better if sourced locally! A fresh produce table will alight the senses, adding vibrant colour to the space as well as tantalising smells. We even suspect that this year some clean eating couples may choose to ditch the wine in favour of a green juice bar!
Beauty is all about being YOU…
The normcore movement has filtered its way into bridal with many girls opting for a more casual wedding day look. Brides are embracing their God given features and rocking a hair and makeup look that more accurately portrays their everyday appearance. Brides are still paying careful attention to the execution of both, but with the aim of achieving the best possible version of themselves, rather than formal buns and heavy makeup that most girls never wear!
