Wedding Decoration Ideas

Posted: October 30, 2012

Before you plan a thing take a minute to decide what the theme or overall look and feel you’re trying to achieve at your wedding is?”¨Once you’ve settled on this theme let your creative side find ways of expressing it.”¨Think about the venue for your wedding. If it’s a bare hall then your imagination (and budget) is your limit.  However, if you’re getting married in a hotel ballroom or a reception venue you may be slightly more restricted so check with the wedding coordinator about what is possible. If you are time-poor and can’t get out of the office to do all the organisation yourself, then hire a wedding decorator to do it all for you. They are able to source amazing items you wouldn’t normally be able to get your hands on and can coordinate everything down to the flowers, napkins and chair covers. “¨Have a look at some of their websites and make an appointment to discuss your ideas and inspirations. They will certainly be able to expand on them for you.”¨Here are a few ideas to start those creative juices flowing:

  •          Perhaps you like certain colours and want to make them the focal point. Think tiffany blue, deep purple and silver, traditional white or white with splashes of another colour like pink.
  •          You might like to work your theme around the formality of the event. Would you really like a black tie evening affair recreating a chic feel with divans and a ritzy bar with fantastic lighting?”¨Try a black and white theme with crisp white linen, chair covers and black table runners. For extra pizzazz get your guests to dress in either black or white.
  •          Look to the East for some really unusual inspiration. Choose the colour red and utilise symbols from the Far East and Asia. Think red lanterns hanging in the gardens with Asian-inspired food complete with fortune cookies.
  •          If you and your hubby-to-be are water babies why not go all out with a beach wedding theme. Choose a reception venue close to the water and have clean, fresh colours like green, white and natural earthy tones. Have natural flower arrangements your wedding table decorations. And as a bonus the water will make a great backdrop for your photos.
