Beautiful Bali wedding… Part two

Modern Wedding Posted: April 5, 2011

Rachael and Domenic knew they needed to have an open heart on their annual yoga retreat in Ubud, Bali. Little did they know that love would be the reward.

“I knew we were going to be together, when I first laid eyes on her, I think it was a combination of her beautiful radiant smile and her warm and open heart,” says Domenic.
“I discovered that he had this incredible heart; he was warm, passionate, and had a charismatic intensity,” says Rachael.

It was, from the very beginning, a perfect match. Much like the balance of light and dark, yin and yang, Rachael and Domenic found beautiful balance together.
After a romantic proposal in Italy’s infamous Cinque Terre, they decided to return to Ubud and marry.

They chose the colour scheme of black and white which represents the light and dark in Balinese culture. They aren’t a fussy couple and wanted to create an intimate gathering of family and friends in a simple yet beautiful place.

Their ceremony was held in the luxurious grounds of Maya Ubud and they later gathered at Indus for scrumptious feasting and glorious views of the rice paddies.
Rachael was every bit the elegant bride in her Karen Willis Holmes gown and her bridesmaids wore black dresses of their own choosing. She carried a simple bouquet of white orchids.

To spoil their guests, they organised massage therapists at the reception so everyone was relaxed and ready to dance. Dance they did, late into the night until the staff an Indus ushered them out.

Rachael and Domenic stayed at Komeneka in a private villa with pool and were swimming when a storm broke – the perfect remedy for hours of dancing.

They organised a gift registry through ourwishingwell.com which allowed their guests to gift cash or pay for items chosen by the couple. It was the perfect arrangement considering their destination wedding.

After their wedding day they spent a week partying with family and friends before flying home. They returned to Ubud soon after their wedding to relish in the quiet and peace of their meeting place.
