A M Y + G R A N T
Set on a private property with awe-inspiring views of the Currumbin Valley, Amy and Grant’s wedding was an enchanting, outer-worldly experience. The couple married in an intimate outdoor ceremony under a draped blush arbour. The magic ensued with the sparkle of chandeliers and the angelic sound of opera singers at their marquee reception.

We first met…
At work – not very original.
We knew it was love…
Very early on in the piece actually. I think when you know you know.
The proposal…
Grant took me to a beach in Sydney that is special to both of us and before I knew it he was on one knee proposing.
Our wedding photographer…
Kate Nutt was our photographer. She was so easy to work with and I felt totally comfortable with her. Our photos are spectacular – they really captured the day and we still can’t stop flicking through them.

Our dream wedding…
I always knew I wanted something a bit different and my cousins property up in the Currumbin Valley couldn’t have been more perfect. Spectacular views and a stunning, dream-like setting. I wanted to create a magical almost “other worldly” experience with lots of white and green to emphasise the beauty of the venue itself and then accent with lots of lighting and glass.
Ceremony and reception venue…
The whole wedding (ceremony & reception) was held at my cousins property in the Currumbin Valley.
Pre-wedding celebrations…
As I am English – there were many guests from overseas so we wanted to make the most of the celebrations and have a few different events. We had a welcome lunch the day before the wedding as well as a Recovery Lunch the day after.
The bridal party…
We each had three. Two of the bridesmaids were sister-in-laws and the groomsmen were just very good friends of the groom.
The bridesmaids wore…
Shona Joy dresses in Powder Blue.
The groomsmen wore…
Navy Suits with baby pink ties and Lily of the Valley as their boutonniere.
The groom wore…
A navy suit with a waistcoat and an ivory tie to match my dress.
The dress…
My wedding gown was custom made for me by Brides by Francesca. It’s a one off and truly beautiful gown. I really liked a lot of the Berta designs so we took some inspiration from them and made it our own.
Wedding flowers…
I just wanted a lot of whites, greens and a touch of very soft baby pink. Blossom hunter did an incredible job with the flowers – I couldn’t recommend her more highly
Reception décor…
We made the most of the space we had creating several different areas around the venue. We had sofas and lots of seating areas outdoors and chandeliers in trees among lots of fairy lights and even floating lights in the lake. Then we had a clear marquee with again lots of fairy lights among hanging floral garlands and more chandeliers. It looked utterly magical and was everything I hoped it would be.
Blossom Hunter did our flowers and the amazing Roxy at Frank and Joy was the mastermind behind all of our decorations and logistics for the whole day. Our cake along with all of the catering for the day was provided by Eat Drink Events and I can honestly say the food was spectacular. My guests are still talking about it.
On the menu…
Well, we had a high tea and canapés with drinks to start off with then we moved into the marquee and had a sit down dinner with a feasting menu. It was amazing!
Memorable moments…
Everything for me was out of this world and more than I ever could have imagined possible so its very hard to pick a specific moment. Although probably the most memorable part was the “flash-mob” style opera singers that I’d arranged for the main course – it took all of my guests by surprise as they were dressed up as waiters so no one suspected it and to say their voices were breath-taking wouldn’t be doing them justice. I was blown away – it was truly outstanding.
Wedding soundtrack…
I walked down the aisle to Pachelbels Canon and our first dance was Etta James At Last. We had opera singers, The 3 Waiters who belted out some of my favourites like – The Pearl Fishers Au Fond du Temple Saint and Nessun Dorma.

The honeymoon…
We are heading to South Africa in August to go on Safari.
In 40 years we hope to…
Be as happy as we are now.

The engagement…
Try not to let the wedding planning take over your life. Its very easy to get swallowed up by it all so I think it’s important to keep coming back to the fact that it’s about the 2 of you and really that’s all that should matter.
Planning…
Write as many lists as possible and try to stay calm and lean on family and friends for help when you need it.
On the day…
Relax and enjoy it – there’s nothing you can do at this point anyway so just let fate take it course. If you let it – it can be the best day of your life without a shadow of a doubt!
