The first thing we thought when we saw this wedding? The couple didn’t stop laughing or smiling the entire time! With the picturesque surrounds of the National Gallery of Australia as their backdrop, the happy couple tied the knot in classic and elegant style.
A sequinned delight…
The bride spent the morning of her wedding relaxing with her bride tribe and family before getting ready for the big day. When the time came to say ‘I do’ she shone in an embellished Karen Wills Holmes masterpiece. “The gown was completely embellished with beautiful pearl coloured sequins. It was simple but classic, I absolutely adore it!”, she reveals.
The Perfect Setting…
The couple said their ‘I do’s’ on the idyllic and manicured lawns of the National Gallery of Australia, on the shores of Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin. “Our ceremony was held on the lawns beside the sculpture garden. It was so lovely and green, and you can see all of those iconic Canberra views of The National Carillon and Lake Burley Griffin.”
After exchanging their vows, the couple’s guests enjoyed drinks and canapés on the terrace, before being treated to an opulent feast at the Gandel Hall for their reception. “We really wanted our guests to feel like they were at a party, so it was important to us that there was great food, wine and atmosphere”, says Margot.
The couple kept their reception style simple with festoon lighting, classic and neutral blooms and gold accents.
Picture Perfection…
“Our photographer and videographer were so amazing, we didn’t feel at all as though we had to smile for the camera“, the bride revealed, with the lush surrounds of the NGA providing the perfect setting for some natural and relaxed happy snaps and video memories that the couple will treasure forever.
Treasured Memories…
Although hard to choose, Margot and Chris both agreed that their favourite moments was seeing each other for the first time as Margot walked down the aisle. “A big highlight for both of us was seeing each other for the first time. The ceremony was also really intimate and lovely. Sharing our vows with the people we love the most surrounding us, that was a big highlight”, she says.
A Piece Of Advice…
“Remember that the day is about you as a couple and to focus on what you envisioned”. Margot also wanted to remind brides to spend lots of time with their partners on the day. “It seems silly but it can be hard to achieve when you’re busy catching up with all your family and friends!”
