The wedding of Greer Campbell to Lachlan Chrystal from start to finish was nothing but style and class. From the dress, which was bought from Oscar de la Renta’s Fifth Avenue store, the ceremony in breathtaking St. Marys Cathedral to the reception overlooking Sydney’s stunning harbour. Society Photography captured all the beautiful moments of this black tie wedding reminiscent of high society glamour and I just LOVE all the sneaky shots of Lachlan looking at his beautiful bride – true love really is priceless!
The proposal…
Lachie proposed in 2010 on Waikiki beach in Hawaii while we were on holidays with my family. He had gone to a lot of trouble having my ring designed and made before we left as well as getting my fathers permission. Lachie got down on one knee when he asked me to marry him; it was a moment I will remember for the rest of my life. We’ve been together for 4.5 years so we were very excited to be making the commitment to each other.
The dress…
I found my wedding dress the first time I went looking and as soon as I tried it on I knew it was ‘the one’. I went over to NY to see one of my best friends and had it fitted at the Oscar de la Renta store on Fifth Avenue, something I will never forget! One of my bridesmaids came on the trip with me so the three of us had such a great time. All my bridesmaids looked amazing, the Carla Zampatti dress really suited them all and it’s definitely something I think they’ll wear again. The groom wore a Hugo Boss dinner suit and the groomsmen were matched in dinner suits hired from Peppers Formal wear, they all looked amazing, it was a very classy affair!
Ceremony, reception & theme…
Both my grandparents were married at St Marys cathedral so I had always told my friends that I was going to get married there one day. We looked into lots of different venues for our reception but couldn’t go past Café Sydney, it was also one of my parents favourite restaurants so it made it the perfect choice for us. We went for a black and white theme for our day and we wanted the reception to illustrate that through simple, elegant finishes as we didn’t want to take away from the view. The tables were decorated with flowers and wax lanterns.
The day…
Our wedding day was the happiest day of our lives and we were lucky enough to share it with 130 of our closest friends and family. St Marys Cathedral is such a magnificent church not only on the outside but also inside. The length of the aisle made the bridesmaids and I very nervous in the lead up to the wedding but walking down with your father is such a special moment, you want it to last as long as possible. We felt very special to be able to get married there and really did feel like royalty sitting up on the High Alter. Guests enjoyed canapés and champagne on the veranda at Café Sydney before we arrived, we were very grateful to have such beautiful weather on the day which meant we could make the most of our venue.
I come from a big family which has been such an integral part of my life so it made my day so special to have them all included in some way. My sister was a bridesmaid, my two older brothers were groomsmen and my youngest brother was a Paige boy with my cousin Amelia. My brother Adam was the MC and I’m not being biased when I say he was the best MC ever, I think it will be hard to match him!! Lachie also had his sibling part of the day in the bridal party and through readings.
On our wedding night we stayed at the Intercontinental in Sydney and then flew out a few days later for 10 days in Bora Bora, it was amazing!!
Bride’s advice…
Don’t stress about anything on your wedding day, it goes so quickly and no matter what happens it will be perfect. Remember what you’re there for, you’re marrying the love of your life, everything else pales in comparison.
