Before we get into themes, outfits and speeches, it is essential to choose a date! Generally, engagement parties are within the first few months of getting engaged.

Guest lists…
Ideally, guests for your engagement party should be those that are also invited to the wedding. This is an opportunity for family and friends to get to know each other and mingle before the big day. Setting a guest list early on in the piece will also play a big part in your budget and venue choices moving forward. Invitations should be sent out at least 3 to 4 weeks before the event.
Venue….
Like when planning your wedding, a venue for the engagement needs to be organised early on. Traditionally, the bride’s parents host the engagement party, but nowadays this rule is pretty flexible. The venue will set the scene for the rest of your wedding theme so choose carefully.
Menu…
If the party is being held at a restaurant or similar style of venue, consider choosing a few specific meals from the menu. If you or a family member are hosting, consider looking at having the event professionally catered as to reduce stress on the day. Nobody’s got time for that!
Outfits…
