By the time you get to your final wedding dress fitting, the wedding is just around the corner! Whilst the excitement of the upcoming big day may overwhelm you, it’s crucial not to lose your head. After all, you want to ensure that all of the final parts of planning have been perfected. When it comes to the final wedding dress fitting, this is what you need to know!
The Final Countdown…
The process of wedding dress alterations and fittings begins around 6 weeks before the wedding. When it comes to the final fitting appointment, your wedding day is just around the corner. Try to coordinate these appointments so that your final fitting is as close to the wedding as possible.
It’s Not Too Late…
Whilst this is your final appointment, it’s never too late to ask questions. After all, the people that are doing the final fittings want to make sure that you are 100% happy with the dress. If there are any little things that you are not completely happy with, let them know. There may not be a solution but in most cases, a small final change can be made in a short time.
Take Care…
When taking the wedding home with you, you want to ensure that you can care for it properly! Be sure to ask the dressmaker or seamstress about any crucial care instructions. Can the gown be steamed? Is there a certain way it should be hung? Can an iron be used?
Instructions…
This final appointment is also the time to ask about small details of the dress and to get the necessary instructions. If there a bustle, how will it be used? Is the back a lace up style or a zipper? Is there a hook and eye? These little details will have simple instructions that the dressmaker can show you. It’s also important to figure out who may be assisting you with these little details so that they can be shown the instructions too.
Weight Watchers…
A large number of brides will find that they shed some weight leading up to the wedding day. For some, this is through diet and exercise, and others, it’s from the rush and energy that goes into planning the big day. Keep this in mind when it comes to your final appointment so that you are aware of how the gown fits. Often small things like bra cups, hollywood tape or a small alteration can take care of this issue!
You Are What You Eat…
Once your gown has been fitted, don’t try any new diets or exercise routines. This will increase the chance of the gown not fitting correctly on the big day as your weight may fluctuate.
The Perfect Fit…
When you comes to the final appointment, you will most likely be asked how the fit feels. In this moment, you may feel a bit stressed because you’re not sure if the fit is just right. Make sure you walk, sit and dance in the gown so that you can test the movement. Remember, you want the gown to be tight, but not so tight that you can’t move, breathe or eat.
The Finishing Touches…
This final fitting will be the last time you have your wedding dress on before the big day. When trying it on, make sure you complete the look! Wear the undergarments you plan to wear on the day, as well as your wedding heels. If you really want to see the whole look together, ask the seamstress if you can bring along your accessories as well. This will allow you to see your full bridal look!
