Yesterday we started our wrap up of Fiji’s most romantic wedding and honeymoon destinations as experienced by our publisher and Editor-in-chief Victoria Black. Today we round up the picks and share more stunning Fijian destinations!
This gorgeous little resort on the island next to Matangi had a similar relaxed feel – think rustic luxury, with beautiful bungalows and a spa in the jungle, so you can hear the birds singing while you get a massage!
Here my deluxe bungalow (aptly named the Royal Beach House) was beyond to-die-for!!!It had a dreamy canopy bed and its own plunge pool right on the beach!
Qamea Resort and Spa is an amazing honeymoon or elopement location, where couples wanting a simple, intimate experience head. It’s perfect for the more adventurous couple with activities like surfing and scuba diving available. We had the best kayaking adventure and loved getting to know Chad and Sam, the surfing and diving instructors. We were totally inspired by their passion for saving the oceans and planet.
The food was also beautiful here, with lots of fresh seafood and produce bought from the local villages. As we left, the staff gathered to sing the beautiful Fijian farewell song Isa Lei. They had such amazing voices and were so genuinely lovely that we literally cried saying goodbye!
Royal Davui Island Resort truly was a slice of paradise. The tiny private island is accessed by boat, and has only16 villas scattered through the bush, so you feel a million miles away.
We were so relaxed, floating between our amazing villas (with private pools and balconies overlooking the sparkling ocean!) and the relaxed outdoor restaurant. I didn’t want to go to sleep as I just wanted to keep my eyes open all night looking at that view!
Somehow we also found time to go snorkelling – there is a stunning coral reef right in front of the resort – plus swim in the beautiful pool, and enjoy massages in the spa.
The most memorable part was being taken by boat to a tiny sandbar 15 minutes off the island, where the resort had set up a magical secluded wedding ceremony. I can’t imagine a more relaxed, romantic place to say your vows, and I love that a lot of couples jump straight in the ocean afterwards, for a ‘drown the gown’ photoshoot or a spot of snorkelling!
Of all the beautiful resorts, Nanuku Auberge Resort would have to one of the best for a family wedding. The villas here were amazing and so big! We had a whole house with a kitchen, lounge, lush garden, pool and outdoor entertaining area to ourselves. I can imagine how incredibly special it would be to have your whole family staying there.
The resort was private, yet had the atmosphere of a bigger resort, with activities such as Fijian cooking classes available and a private golf cart for each villa! We were treated to the most breathtaking wedding set-up in the penthouse villa, which sits on a cliff overlooking the water. The whole suite was decked out for romance – with a rose-petal filled bathtub, Champagne by the bed, a Fijian ukulele player to serenade us, and a personal chef whipping up canapes.
On the balcony was a beautiful aisle and exquisitely laid table, scattered with candles, flowers and shells – overlooking the ocean and a private infinity pool. It really showed us how romantic this location would be for a wedding, proposal or special anniversary. You can hire out the penthouse exclusively for your wedding ceremony and/or reception.
Later in the evening we were treated to a kava ceremony followed by a magnificent dinner party on the sand.
Our accommodation was so amazing we then had to kick on with a girls’ after-party at our villa – we didn’t want to waste a second!
We were exhausted from all our amazing experiences by the time we reached the Sofitel (tough job, I know!), so discovering the resort’s new adults-only zone was like a gift from above.
The Waitui Beach Club acts as a separate resort within the resort – which is large and family-friendly – and we stayed here ALL afternoon, sipping Veuve Cliquot from the swim-up pool bar, and relaxing on the most comfortable loungers.
It would be a wonderful place to relax with your wedding party. The Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa has lots of affordable wedding packages available, and an adorable seaside chapel. For your reception, or a special celebration dinner, you can dine in the private dining pavilion on the beach, or at one of the many restaurants. We were treated to a beautiful dinner at a table set up in an open bungalow, surrounded by lush greenery and masses of twinkling fairy-lights. This would be a gorgeous spot for a wedding reception.
Our evening was capped off by a Friday night dance party on the sand! I educated the younger girls on the merits of Dragon (Take Me To The April Sun) and other old bands and they had to agree the 1970’s music was far superior!
We had such a fantastic time in Fiji. Special thanks to Tourism Fiji, Fiji Airways, Rosie Holidays, Kate McPherson from AC Verve and the fabulous resorts and staff for making us feel so welcome and being such wonderful hosts! I’ve put together a gallery of happy snaps of our time in Fiji!
